That makes many people admire and respect Nam Khanh's determination. Because, the male student has very special circumstances.

Khanh was born and grew up without the warmth of his father. Khanh and his mother Nguyen Thi Thanh Tinh (39 years old) are both visually impaired, but his mother can still see objects in dim light. This is a consequence of Agent Orange because Khanh's maternal grandfather was a soldier in fierce battlefields.

Upon learning of her grandchild’s condition, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Luong (66 years old, Khanh’s grandmother) took her to many hospitals and performed many surgeries, but to no avail. By the time she was in 6th grade, Khanh had completely lost his eyesight.

With determination and a thirst for knowledge, Khanh did not give up but switched to learning Braille. To help him feel more optimistic, he often listened to music.

For many years, Nam Khanh went to school thanks to his mother's poor eyesight. "Normally, my mother took me to school by bicycle. On rainy days or when the road was crowded, my mother was afraid I would fall so she would walk me.

The mother and son followed the sidewalk and small path home. At school, I received support from teachers and friends in my studies. At home, my grandmother, wearing reading glasses, slowly read each word in the textbook to help me improve my knowledge," Khanh shared.

Not letting down everyone's love, Nam Khanh overcame difficulties and received many awards such as third prize in the Soul Seeds contest and second prize in the Go with you contest organized by the Vietnam Blind Network in Hanoi.

In 2023, Khanh was one of 10 students recognized by the Ha Tinh Provincial Youth Union and the Ha Tinh Department of Education and Training as students overcoming difficulties.

Also in 2023, Khanh was the youngest delegate, one of 21 outstanding individuals in the province to receive a Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province for his outstanding achievements in studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style.

By 2024, Khanh was honored to join the Party while still a student at Phan Dinh Phung High School.

Notably, Khanh was accepted into 6 universities after 12 years of studying hard. Among them, Nam Khanh decided to study Social Work at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Khanh revealed that he loves singing, likes being an MC, and wants to stand on stage to inspire people in the same situation, so he chose the right school to soon realize his dream.

In recent days, Nam Khanh and his relatives have been searching online for information on renting a house or dormitory near the school to prepare for admission.
