Nam Dinh meets overseas Vietnamese on Lunar New Year occasion

Kinhtedothi-On the occasion of welcoming the New Year of At Ty 2025, on the evening of January 24, in Nam Dinh City, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Nam Dinh province organized a meeting with 125 overseas Vietnamese who are Nam Dinh people living in Europe and many other regions around the world to visit their homeland and celebrate Tet.

Attending the meeting were comrade Le Quoc Chinh, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Colonel Nguyen Huu Manh, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Director of the Provincial Police Department; comrade Tran Le Doai, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and many leaders of departments, branches, sectors and organizations of the province.

At the event, Mr. Tran Le Doai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, happily informed the overseas Vietnamese about the outstanding results of the province's socio-economic development in recent times; preferential policies and orientations to attract domestic and foreign enterprises to invest and develop in the province.

Accordingly, in 2024, Nam Dinh achieved an impressive economic growth rate of 10.01%, ranking 4th in the Red River Delta and 9th in the country. Total social investment capital increased by 18%; total export turnover of goods increased by 30.8%; State budget revenue in the area reached 14,828 billion VND (the highest ever, far exceeding the target set by the Resolution of the 20th Provincial Party Congress), up 42% compared to 2023.

The work of building advanced and exemplary new rural areas (NTM) continues to receive attention and achieve positive results. Giao Thuy district has been recognized by the Prime Minister as meeting advanced NTM standards in 2023. To date, the whole province has 97.5% of communes and towns meeting advanced NTM standards (exceeding the set plan) and 28.1% of communes meeting model NTM standards.

Investment promotion and attraction work has achieved many positive results. In 2024, the province has newly granted and adjusted capital increases for 90 projects with a total registered capital of nearly 12 trillion VND and 360 million USD, contributing to creating jobs for tens of thousands of local workers.

Many key infrastructure projects, especially transport infrastructure, have been completed and put into use in 2024; typically the coastal road section through Nam Dinh province, Ben Moi bridge connecting Nam Dinh province and Ninh Binh province, the festival center in the historical - cultural relic site of the Tran dynasty, phase II of the project to build a development axis road connecting the marine economic zone of Nam Dinh province with the Cau Gie - Ninh Binh expressway, putting into operation the 500kV circuit 3 line in the province...

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Le Doai emphasized that these successes come not only from the efforts of the Party Committee, government and people in the province but also from the valuable support of the overseas Vietnamese community. Overseas Vietnamese not only contribute financially but also bring new knowledge, modern management experience and international relations.

Nam Dinh hopes that overseas Vietnamese will continue to participate in development projects in areas such as industry, high-tech agriculture, tourism services and education. At the same time, the province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions for overseas Vietnamese start-up ideas and investment projects.

Speaking at the meeting, the overseas Vietnamese representatives expressed their emotion at the attention of the provincial leaders and pride in the achievements of their homeland. Although living abroad, they always turn to their homeland and actively contribute to the development of Nam Dinh.

On this occasion, overseas Vietnamese donated 110 million VND to the Provincial "For the Poor" Fund and 50 million VND to the Nam Dinh City Education Promotion Fund.

The program of meeting overseas Vietnamese is not only an opportunity to send meaningful New Year greetings but also contributes to strengthening the great national unity. This is also a bridge to promote the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and at the same time promote friendly cooperation between Nam Dinh and foreign localities.

On the occasion of the New Year, the provincial leaders wished overseas Vietnamese and their families health, happiness and success, and hoped that the overseas Vietnamese community would continue to be ambassadors of connection, contributing to building an increasingly prosperous homeland.
