According to CNN, President Biden has just announced the deployment of a new military aid package for Ukraine worth up to 400 million USD.
This is the third military aid package for Ukraine announced by the US in less than three weeks, following two support packages with a total value of about 7 billion USD announced late last month.
The aid package is being deployed under the Presidential Availability Adjustment (PDA), a law that gives the US government the flexibility to transfer some of its military resources and equipment to partners in an emergency without congressional approval. The Biden administration has repeatedly used the PDA to provide military aid to Ukraine. The move comes as Kiev announced that Moscow was launching an offensive against the northeastern Kharkiv province.
According to Reuters news agency, the announcement from the Washington administration shows that the US is gradually returning to the regular pace of providing weapons to Kiev, after the US House of Representatives passed a $95 billion security aid bill for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan in late April.
