Asia

TIMES OF INDIA. The Supreme Court of India has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) to re-conduct medical entrance exams for around 1,563 students over suspicions of cheating.

Xinhua News Agency. China has urged the EU to change its plans to impose tariffs on electric cars imported from China, warning of the possibility of filing a complaint with the WTO over the bloc's new tariffs.

CHINA DAILY. Scarce rainfall, sweltering heat and drought in some provinces have prompted Chinese authorities to issue warnings and take action to mitigate the impact on agriculture, water resources and energy.

JOONGANG ILBO. Japan and North Korea held secret meetings in Mongolia in mid-May, as Tokyo tries to resolve the issue of Japanese citizens abducted in the past.

DW. Welcoming the G7 leaders to Borgo Egnazia, host Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said the conference wanted to convey a message of dialogue with the Southern Hemisphere and solidarity.

AFP. Ukraine and Japan signed a security agreement on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, President Volodymyr Zelensky announced.

EUROPOL. The European Union police agency (Europol) has dismantled a drug trafficking ring into Europe, making 40 arrests and seizing eight tonnes of cocaine.

POLITICO. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is protesting against a decision by the European Court of Justice to fine Hungary 200 million euros for failing to comply with the bloc's refugee regulations.

PBS. The Slovak Parliament has approved a proposal to amend the Asylum Act , which mainly introduces changes to the speedy payment of accommodation benefits to migrants.

AKI PRESS. Kyrgyzstan's parliament has passed a bill allowing the mining of uranium and thorium , which had been banned since 2019 after a wave of protests against the mining of these two radioactive substances.

ANADOLU. Türkiye has signed a $23 billion F-16 fighter jet deal with the United States, after months of negotiations, that includes the delivery of 40 new F-16s and the upgrading of 79 existing ones.

AFP. The Moscow Exchange, Russia's main stock exchange, suspended trading in dollars and euros , after the US imposed a new package of sanctions on Russia.

TASS. The Kremlin reassured about the Russian warship's visit to Cuba , asserting that there is no reason for any country, including the US, to worry about this exercise.

GUARDIAN. Several former SpaceX employees have filed a lawsuit against CEO Elon Musk over the "dark culture" of sexism he built at the company.
