Artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain technology are and will continue to change the structure of many industries, creating new job opportunities but also posing new challenges.

Sharing at the event within the series of seminars on improving the capacity of young workers (ABAII Unitour) organized by the Vietnam Blockchain Association, Dr. Le Linh Luong, Deputy Director of the Institute of Blockchain Technology and Artificial Intelligence (ABAII), said that with advances in technology, 300 million full-time jobs will be affected by automation.

According to Dr. Le Linh Luong, a recent statistic shows that the use of AI has nearly doubled in the past 6 months. More and more people are using AI in the workplace.

AI has the potential to supplement and support more than completely eliminate a particular job. This opens up opportunities for those who know how to use and apply AI in their work, especially in areas such as sales, marketing, logistics, or supply chain management ,” said Dr. Le Linh Luong.

Data from McKinsey and PwC shows that applying AI can help reduce 15-25% of logistics costs by optimizing shipping routes, increasing 30-40% accuracy in demand forecasting and inventory management.

AI also reduces order processing time by 20-35% through automation, improves warehouse operational efficiency by 50-60%, and reduces supply chain disruptions by 25-30% through real-time data analysis and forecasting.

Not only artificial intelligence, another technology, Blockchain, is also showing its growing influence in supply chain operations.

With outstanding features such as decentralization, immutability and consensus, Blockchain is expected to solve problems of security, transparency and saving transaction costs.

In that context, Dr. Le Linh Luong said that in the process of searching for a job, if the personal profile has information showing that the candidate has studied, experienced or participated in projects related to new technologies such as AI, Blockchain, that profile will be evaluated much higher than others.

Master Tran Le Hong Van, an expert with 25 years of experience in the field of supply chain management at many large corporations, believes that warehouse operators, data entry staff, warehouse accountants, and transportation coordinators are positions in the supply chain that are likely to be affected by AI and new technologies.

However, the growing technology also contributes to creating many job opportunities. Young people can participate in new careers based on the application of Blockchain and AI in supply chain operations.

For example, “Supply Chain Automation Specialist” is a data analysis job that requires programming skills. Or with the position of “Supply Chain Consultant”, you must have a good understanding of Blockchain and AI technology as well as its applications in the supply chain to advise businesses ,” shared Master Tran Le Hong Van.

According to Mr. Nguyen Minh Cuong, member of the ABAII Institute's Faculty Council, 20 years ago, people with office computer skills would have a huge advantage when graduating.

About 10 years ago, the ability to use English gave candidates an advantage in the labor market. In the current stage, using AI and programming are the required skills.

In essence, whether it is office informatics, English or programming, it is our ability to use a certain language to exploit external resources. Knowing office informatics, we can only use 5-10% of the computer's capacity, with programming knowledge and AI skills, today we can exploit up to 90% of the machine's capacity ,” Mr. Cuong shared.

In the context of technology changing every day, experts say that young people need to seize opportunities, persistently pursue their careers and invest time learning to improve their skills in AI and Blockchain.

That is the difference for young people to compete with each other, thereby having better salaries and job opportunities in the labor market.
