Taking a medical history, Ms. H. said that she used to be very self-conscious because of her flat, flat nose, so she decided to get a nose job. Unfortunately, after 7 nose jobs at different beauty salons, not only did she not change her appearance, but she also had a series of complications, and her nose became increasingly deformed and shrunken.
7 failed nose jobs
In the first surgery, Ms. H. had an artificial nose bridge placed at a local spa. However, the bridge soon collapsed and she had to have it removed. After a while, she went to a general hospital in Ho Chi Minh City to have her nose lifted with an artificial bridge and ear cartilage. However, after a while, the tip of her nose was too sharp, so Ms. H. decided to ask the doctor to intervene and correct the tip of her nose by adding ear cartilage.
Doctors reconstruct patient's nose
BSCC
Since the second ear cartilage covering, Ms. H.'s nose began to show signs of infection and inflammation, so she went to a beauty salon in Ho Chi Minh City to remove the old cartilage and place a new one for more than 100 million VND. After 6 years of placing the new cartilage, Ms. H.'s nose continued to be infected, had fluid discharge and was in constant pain, so she went back to the beauty salon to have the bridge of her nose removed.
After 6 failed surgeries, on the 7th time, Ms. H. switched to autologous fat grafting into the bridge of her nose to improve the height and shape of her nose.
After 1 year of fat grafting for nose lift, the fat was absorbed. The nose became increasingly shrunken and deformed, especially the 2 nostrils became increasingly tighter, making breathing more difficult.
More than 5 hours of surgery, nose reconstruction
On June 21, Dr. Tu Dung (Director of JW Hospital) said that Ms. H.'s nose was complicatedly deformed, and scar tissue had hardened due to too many surgical interventions. The tip of the nose had shrunk, the bridge of the nose had collapsed completely, and the septum cartilage was crooked, so the entire nose had to be reconstructed. At the same time, the patient's constitution was not compatible with artificial cartilage materials, so it had to be replaced with autologous rib cartilage.
"One of the difficulties of patient H. is that the rib cartilage is hard, so taking the rib cartilage and using it to create a nose pillar is very difficult. The surgical team had to spend a lot of effort and time together to hold, clamp and peel the rib cartilage, to avoid the cartilage from being broken. After surgery, the shape of H.'s nose will improve by 50-60% ," Dr. Dung shared.
After 5 hours of surgery, Ms. H's nose was successfully reconstructed. In particular, the nasal septum was straight, the nostrils were round and breathing was easier.
