The Hanoi Party Committee has decided to stop fireworks displays in all 30 districts, towns and cities on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, in order to focus resources on overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi. Politburo member, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, Head of the Hanoi National Assembly Delegation Bui Thi Minh Hoai emphasized that this decision comes from the solidarity of the people, demonstrating the responsibility of the Capital and the spirit of "Hanoi for the whole country, with the whole country".
According to writer Nguyen Bac Son, Director of the East-West Language and Culture Center, the decision by Hanoi city leaders to stop fireworks is “a popular decision, full of responsibility in the face of the pain after the storm and flood”. This decision not only demonstrates the spirit of mutual love but also a manifestation of solidarity.
“That spirit of solidarity and unanimity is not only a good tradition but also the strength for the country to overcome current difficulties and challenges,” said writer Nguyen Bac Son.
The Director of the East-West Language and Culture Center added that this decision may cause regret for some people, but prioritizing overcoming the consequences of natural disasters is necessary and reasonable in the current context. Writer Nguyen Bac Son hopes that after overcoming the consequences of Typhoon Yagi, cultural and artistic activities will be organized to create memorable memories for people and tourists.
“There are still storms and floods, there is still pain… all of it remains, imprinted in the hearts of every person in the flooded area… Therefore, more than ever, at this time, we should stop events and emotions that may be temporary to compensate for the pain of our compatriots, and turn to our compatriots. There may be many different opinions, but I think the decision to stop the fireworks display made by the leaders of Hanoi city is correct. Hanoi always turns to the whole country and the whole country always turns to Hanoi. That is the solidarity and unanimity that has been cultivated for thousands of years, demonstrating the fine tradition of our nation,” Mr. Son affirmed.

On social networking forums, many people said that Hanoi has had many occasions to set off fireworks to celebrate great historical events, and the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital will certainly be one of those memorable events. However, the decision to temporarily suspend this activity to prioritize resources and spirit on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters is an extremely correct one. The consequences of Typhoon Yagi have left behind many great losses in human lives and property, requiring the joint efforts of the entire political system and the people to overcome the difficulties.
At this time, it is most important to sympathize with the victims of natural disasters and focus on relief work. The decision to stop fireworks not only shows the government's sympathy for the loss and pain of the people, but also shows its responsibility to the people. The saved resources will be used more effectively in overcoming the consequences of storms and floods, helping people stabilize their lives soon.
This decision also shows that the Hanoi Party Committee has listened to and understood the people's thoughts and aspirations. In the context of natural disasters causing many losses, focusing on practical actions instead of formal activities is what the people expect. This is a testament to the close leadership, always putting the interests of the people first.
In the future, Hanoi will still have many opportunities to organize major events to honor the glorious history and traditions of the Capital. However, at this time, solidarity and working together to overcome difficulties are more important. And the decision to stop fireworks on this occasion has affirmed: Hanoi is not only a city rich in cultural traditions, but also a city of compassion and sharing.
The decision to stop fireworks, therefore, not only satisfies the people but also affirms the responsible leadership role of the Hanoi Party Committee in difficult times. The people of the capital will certainly feel proud of this choice, when the government has put the common interests and safety of the community first.
More than half a century has passed, but October 10, 1954 is still a historical day that is deeply engraved in the hearts of every citizen of the capital Hanoi because it was a bright milestone marking the complete defeat of French colonialism in Vietnam, opening a new period of development for the capital and the country. There are so many memories, memories of war, there are still pains, losses but there is also the pride of the indomitable people who made history. Hanoi city suffered much pain and losses from the war, now it is developing every day. The capital city that gathers the elite is always the leading position of the whole country, worthy of being the political, administrative, economic, cultural, educational, scientific - technological center of the whole country and continues to rise to the regional and international level. The Capital Liberation Anniversary on October 10, 2024 will be an occasion to review the heroic historical tradition, so that every citizen will forever remember history, remember the people who heroically sacrificed for the peaceful city, "a thousand years of civilization". |
