A cooperative in Ha Tinh wins the CoopStar Awards

Established nearly 30 years ago, Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative (located in Trung Luong ward, Hong Linh town) has continuously transformed and innovated, affirming its pioneering role in agricultural services.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative shared: “Established in 1997, the Cooperative has undergone many changes in its operating model to suit the trend. Most recently, in 2016, the unit converted according to the 2012 Law on Cooperatives. With advice from the Ha Tinh Cooperative Union and closely following the Law on Cooperatives, the unit always focuses on building a true collective economic model. The Cooperative operates in many fields: supplying agricultural materials, in-field irrigation services, collecting and treating waste, planting and protecting forests. Over the years, the Board of Directors and the Board of Directors of the Cooperative have strived to overcome difficulties, building a development direction each year, each stage to keep up with development, becoming a support for members".

From nearly 1,000 members when it was established, the cooperative has now attracted and gathered 2,500 members (equivalent to 1,350 households, accounting for 100% of agricultural households in the whole ward). Operating according to the new cooperative model, members cooperate and support each other in production and business; 100% of members contribute capital when joining and jointly control the capital, funds and assets of the cooperative, and are distributed income mainly according to the level of product and service usage or the level of labor contribution. With the spirit of supporting farmers as the main, each year the unit supplies over 200 tons of fertilizer and a large output of seeds, pesticides... in a deferred payment method.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (residing in Tuan Cau Residential Area, Trung Luong Ward) excitedly said: “As a member of the Cooperative, we are guaranteed a chain of services with peace of mind about product quality. All fertilizers, seeds, etc. are provided by the Cooperative directly to the fields. If members do not have enough money, they will be able to delay payment until the end of the crop and at the end of the year, members will receive profits based on the products they have used. In addition, every year, the Cooperative has allocated profits to reinvest in infrastructure to serve production, thanks to which the canals and internal road systems are increasingly synchronized, making it very convenient for farmers to cultivate."

In the period of 2020 - 2025 alone, the Cooperative spent 4.8 billion VND to build canals and intra-field roads, accordingly, more than 22 km of canals and the basic intra-field road system have been invested synchronously.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong (Tuan Cau residential group, Trung Luong ward) is excited because the cooperative provides agricultural materials with deferred payment.

Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative is also a bright spot in pioneering with the ward to implement land conversion and accumulation. Overcoming difficulties when starting to implement, the Board of Directors of Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative advised the Ward People's Committee to develop a specific plan, mobilize the people, and build many effective concentrated production areas with a scale of 2 - 5 hectares. In the period of 2020 - 2025, the Cooperative coordinated to break the banks of small plots, creating large plots with an area of 53/313 hectares in the whole ward. With this result, Trung Luong ward is the leading locality and has the largest area of land accumulation and conversion in Hong Linh town, contributing to increasing productivity up to 60 quintals of rice/ha/crop.

"Taking advantage of local strengths, the cooperative also coordinated with relevant agencies to deploy an organic rice model combined with the exploitation of earthworms on an area of 9 hectares. After 2 years of implementation, the model has brought high economic efficiency and has been certified as organic rice by the industry. In the future, we will research and expand the area of earthworm rice associated with linking product consumption in a sustainable direction" - Director of Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative Nguyen Ngoc Dung added.

In the period 2020 - 2025, Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative invested 4.8 billion VND to build canals and intra-field traffic systems.

In 2024, the cooperative's revenue will reach more than 3.5 billion VND, maintaining and always ensuring a chain of services for members, creating positive values for the community.

With efforts to innovate and transform in the market mechanism, Quynh Luong Agricultural Service Cooperative has surpassed tens of thousands of competitors nationwide to enter the top 100 cooperatives to receive the title "CoopStar Awards" in 2025 voted by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance.
