Each party cell should not let party members "forget to wash their faces" every day.

Self-criticism and criticism are “sharp weapons”, the unchangeable rules and principles in the building and rectification of the Communist Party. A true communist party member always considers self-criticism and criticism as a regular and continuous task to train himself, thereby knowing how to correct mistakes, adjust what is incorrect, not up to standard, develop and multiply the right actions, the good things that each party member brings to society.

During his revolutionary career, President Ho Chi Minh wrote many articles and talks about self-criticism and criticism. In October 1947, in his work “Reforming the way of working”, he wrote: “For a good party member and cadre to become a true revolutionary, there is nothing difficult, it is entirely up to the heart, if the heart only knows how to work for the Party, for the Fatherland, for the people, then one will reach the point of being impartial and selfless”.

Also in this work, he pointed out: “The best medicine is practical criticism and self-criticism”. Every cadre and party member “must self-examine, self-criticize, and self-correct every day, just as they must wash their faces every day”. “A Party that conceals its shortcomings is a rotten Party. A Party that has the courage to admit its shortcomings, clearly point out those shortcomings, clearly examine the circumstances that gave rise to those shortcomings, and then seek every way to correct those shortcomings. That is a progressive, bold, steadfast, and genuine Party”. The Party needs to know its strengths and weaknesses “to educate its members and the masses”.

Although it was not until the Second Congress (1951) that our Party included self-criticism and criticism in the Party Charter, since its inception (February 3, 1930), our Party has carried within itself a very serious spirit of "self-criticism". Although time has passed, Uncle Ho's thoughts and teachings still retain their value and are the guiding principles for our Party to apply in the practice of leading the country. Over 94 years with a rich history, experience, intelligence and science, in every revolutionary period, our Party has attached special importance to the work of Party building and rectification, especially self-criticism and criticism, in which the "self-examination and self-correction" of each Party member and Party organization is considered the key to assessing the quality of Party members and Party organizations.

In the last three Party Congresses, our Party has had resolutions and conclusions on Party building and rectification with the desire that our Party will become increasingly strong and clean. These are: Resolution of the 4th Central Committee, Session XI, "Some urgent issues on Party building at present"; Resolution of the 4th Central Committee, Session XII, on "Strengthening Party building and rectification; preventing and repelling degradation in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, and manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation" within the Party". The 13th National Party Congress has comprehensively summarized the work of Party building and rectification and pointed out: "In the coming years, it is necessary to pay special attention to and further promote the work of building and rectifying the Party and the political system to be clean and strong in all aspects of politics, ideology, ethics, organization and cadres". At the 4th Central Conference, Session XIII, Conclusion 21 was issued on: "Strengthening the building and rectification of the Party and the political system; Resolutely prevent, repel, and strictly handle cadres and party members who have degraded political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, and show signs of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation".

Despite achieving great and historically significant achievements, reviewing the work of Party building and rectification, the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress found that: "Self-criticism and criticism in many places are still formal; the situation of deference, avoidance, and fear of conflict still occurs in many places; a number of cadres and Party members lack the self-awareness to recognize their shortcomings and responsibilities for assigned tasks."

Since the beginning of the 13th Party Congress, many cadres and party members, especially some high-ranking cadres under the management of the Secretariat and the Politburo, have violated the Party Charter, things that party members are not allowed to do, and have seriously violated the law, and have been severely punished by Party discipline and even criminal prosecution. Through the above cases, it can be seen that the self-criticism and criticism work of some party organizations and party members is not serious; the struggle and criticism work of party organizations with party members who violate the law has been lax and taken lightly. In particular, the role of the head and the presiding cadre has been lax, influenced by personal interests and group interests. Party members who violate Party discipline and the law of

The State is because in daily life and work, we have forgotten that we are cadres, party members, public servants, serving the Fatherland and the People.

Do not let party members take lightly the responsibility of "self-examination, self-correction" and "forget to wash their faces" every day. Each party organization and party member needs to promote the spirit of straightforward struggle and sincere comments for the common cause of the Party. Avoid the situation of seeing mistakes but not daring to criticize or give comments so that their comrades and teammates can progress and mature; so that party members do not prolong and sink deeper into mistakes and shortcomings, quickly recognize mean and wrongful actions, quickly overcome the consequences (if any), correct their own mistakes, preserve the prestige of the Party, honor for themselves, their families and clans. When working, there will inevitably be mistakes and shortcomings, but if they realize them early or are reminded and warned by party members in the same party group or party cell, party members will surely soon wake up and avoid violations.
