In the joyful and exciting atmosphere of the first days of the new year, on the morning of February 5 (the 8th day of the Lunar New Year), President Luong Cuong attended the launching ceremony of "Tree Planting Festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" Spring At Ty 2025 in Chi Lang district, Lang Son province, organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in coordination with Lang Son province.
Also attending were Party Central Committee members: Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Tran Quang Phuong, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly; Le Khanh Hai, Head of the Office of the President; Le Minh Hoan, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Pham Tat Thang, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission; Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Vice President and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Senior Lieutenant General Pham Hoai Nam, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Hoang Van Nghiem, Secretary of the Lang Son Provincial Party Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of central ministries, branches and Lang Son province.
The movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" on every Lunar New Year is a meaningful event to encourage and motivate people across the country to start a season of tree planting, afforestation, forest protection and development, and protection of the ecological environment for the rapid and sustainable development of the country; contribute and unite to successfully complete the Program of planting one billion trees in the period 2021-2025 - For a green Vietnam, contributing to building a forever green and forever sustainable country.
In 2024, despite many difficulties and challenges, and the negative impacts of climate change and unusual natural disasters, especially storm No. 3 (storm Yagi) which caused great damage to agricultural and forestry production and the lives of people in the storm-hit areas, we still achieved very proud results in afforestation; the whole country planted 245,000 hectares of concentrated forests and 130 million scattered trees, contributing to proactively providing raw materials for the processing and export industry; the forest cover rate was maintained at over 42%, and forest protection work had positive changes.
Expressing his joy at attending the launching ceremony of the "Tet tree planting festival to forever remember Uncle Ho" in the Spring of At Ty 2025 held in Chi Lang district - a sacred land associated with the heroic history of the nation, President Luong Cuong stated that throughout history, forests and trees are not only symbols of life, but also evidence of the sustainable connection between humans and nature.
Quoting the teaching of beloved Uncle Ho that "Spring is the Tree Planting Festival - Making the country more and more Spring", the President affirmed that over the past 65 years, the movement "Tree Planting Festival forever remembers Uncle Ho" every time Tet comes, Spring returns has become a tradition, a good custom of our nation, an activity with profound meaning in protecting and developing the ecological environment, conserving nature, at the same time also showing love for the homeland, respect for traditional cultural values that are promoted and continue to spread strongly in the community.
The President emphasized that the results in the forest planting work have continued to sow the seeds of hope for a greener, more beautiful future, so that spring will forever be the spring of life, development and love in every person and the entire Vietnamese nation. Along with the general results of the whole country, promoting the tradition of the revolutionary land, rich in cultural and historical identity, Lang Son province has always been one of the leading localities in forest management, protection and development, paying attention to investing in developing the agricultural and forestry production sector into a key economic sector, practically contributing to socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security.
On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President highly appreciated and commended the achievements of Lang Son province in particular and the whole country in general in 2024; commended localities, agencies and units for having many good, practical and effective initiatives and methods in implementing the movement "Tet tree planting to forever remember Uncle Ho" and implementing the Project to plant 1 billion trees in the recent past.
The President emphasized that, in the face of the very important achievements in the process of economic development and the process of industrialization and urbanization; those achievements and results are opening up opportunities, creating a solid foundation for our country to enter a new era - the era of strong and prosperous development; but at the same time, they also pose great challenges in terms of environmental pollution, biodiversity loss, and climate change. The consistent and continuous policy of our Party and State is to aim for rapid and sustainable development, proactively respond to climate change, build a green economy, a circular economy, environmentally friendly, develop agriculture and forestry effectively, sustainably, transparently, and responsibly, for a green and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.
On the occasion of the 2025 Tree Planting Festival, the President called on all levels, sectors, organizations, business communities, each family and each citizen to actively participate in the movement of planting trees, planting forests and protecting trees. At the same time, he emphasized that the organization of tree planting must ensure quality, practicality, efficiency, avoid formality; focus on selecting native trees, multi-purpose forestry trees, trees that are resistant to climate change, suitable for the land conditions and forest planting season of each region, to ensure that the trees after planting have a high survival rate, good growth and development.
The President said that this is not only a movement but also a strong affirmation of responsibility and love for the homeland and country. Every small action - from sowing a seed, planting a tree, to protecting and caring for each forest - is a meaningful action, contributing to creating a green and vibrant future. Today's joined hands are building a solid foundation for a prosperous Vietnam, in harmony with nature and sustainable on the path of development.
Emphasizing that each tree planted is an act of love sent to nature, a priceless gift for future generations, the President called on everyone to protect and plant more trees, with all love, gratitude and pride in the eternal beauty of nature so that this spring becomes the beginning of good things, of hope and new victories.
After beating the drum to launch the Tree Planting Festival, President Luong Cuong, along with delegates, representatives of socio-political organizations and local people, participated in tree planting in the forest hill area of Chien Thang commune, Chi Lang district, Lang Son province.
* Next, the President visited and gave Tet greetings and gifts to officers and soldiers at Battalion 1, Regiment 123, Lang Son Provincial Military Command.
After listening to a summary report on the results of the 2024 tasks, combat readiness tasks, and organizing a Spring Festival for soldiers, the President highly appreciated the unit's task implementation, and at the same time hoped that with the new spirit of the first days of spring, Battalion 1, Regiment 123, Lang Son Provincial Military Command would continue to promote its glorious tradition, write new pages of history, contribute to beautifying the tradition of the heroic Vietnam People's Army and perform well its functions and tasks: a combat army, a working army and a production labor army.
The President wished the officers and soldiers of the unit to continue to unite, overcome all difficulties, constantly strive to study, practice, improve all aspects, and be ready to fight to meet all requirements of tasks in the new situation.
