Central region still has heavy rain, gradually moving to Thua Thien Hue

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, last night and this morning (October 31), in the area from Ha Tinh to Phu Yen, there continued to be moderate rain, heavy rain, very heavy rain in some places, and scattered thunderstorms.

Rainfall from 7pm last night to 8am this morning was over 100mm in some places such as: Thach Son (Ha Tinh) 154.8mm, Quang Phuc (Quang Binh) 189mm, Loc Tri (Thua Thien Hue) 291.6mm, Hoa Ninh (Da Nang) 239.6mm, An Phu (Tam Ky) 160.8mm, Nguyen Van Cu (Binh Dinh) 159.8mm, Son Long (Phu Yen) 228.2mm, Xuan Loc (Phu Yen) 145.2mm,...

The meteorological agency said that today, in the area from Ha Tinh to Quang Tri, there will still be moderate rain, heavy rain, and in some places very heavy rain with total rainfall from 40-80mm, in some places over 150mm. From tonight, the rain will tend to decrease gradually.

However, from today until the morning of November 2, heavy rain will move into the area from Thua Thien Hue to Binh Dinh, with total rainfall from 100-200mm, some places over 350mm. The areas of Phu Yen, Kon Tum and Gia Lai will also have very heavy rain but the rainfall is lower with 50-100mm, some places over 150mm.

In addition, during the day and tonight, in Khanh Hoa area, other places in the Central Highlands and the South, there will be showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy rain with rainfall of 20-40mm, some places over 70mm.

The meteorological agency said that in the coming hours, the above provinces will continue to have rain, with the following accumulated rainfall: from Ha Tinh to Thua Thien Hue from 20-50mm, some places over 90mm; from Quang Nam to Phu Yen from 40-60mm, some places over 100mm. Soil moisture models show that some areas in these provinces are nearly saturated (over 85%) or have reached saturation.

At the same time, Mr. Phung Tien Dung, Head of Hydrological Forecasting Department, National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting also said that from today until November 2, there is a possibility of a flood on rivers from Quang Binh to Phu Yen.

"During this flood, the peak water level on rivers from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai, northern Binh Dinh, northern Phu Yen reached alert level 1- alert level 2, some rivers were above alert level 2," Mr. Dung informed.

The meteorological agency warned that the impact of heavy rains creates a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, localized flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and urban areas in provinces from Quang Binh to Phu Yen.
