At the same time, on TikTok and Facebook platforms, information appeared that "storms are coming to the South", "The South is submerged in water"...

Most of the posts take images of unknown origin or recent natural phenomena that appeared in the Southern provinces and then add false information.

The above information was shared on social media platforms after Typhoon Yagi entered the North, causing heavy damage to people and property, making people even more confused and worried.

Regarding the above information, Ms. Le Thi Xuan Lan - former Deputy Head of Forecasting Department of Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that in recent days, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southern provinces have had rain due to the southwest wind tending to strengthen.

According to Ms. Lan, the information about the storm entering the South is incorrect because storm Bebinca off the coast of the Philippines will not enter the East Sea in the coming days.

Ms. Lan also informed that currently, the low-lying area that is likely to strengthen into a storm or tropical depression in the northeast of the Truong Sa archipelago will not enter the South. If a new storm forms, it will tend to move towards the Central region. However, the forecast information is still far away and subject to many changes.

Why does the South have long rains?

According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, the South is currently experiencing a period of rain that will last until September 20. The cause is that the low pressure trough with an axis through the North Central region is gradually moving south through the Central region and is gradually becoming stronger. The southwest monsoon is gradually becoming stronger. Above, the subtropical high pressure is weakening.

Therefore, the weather is cloudy, with intermittent sunshine during the day. In the afternoon and evening, there will be showers in many places, scattered moderate rain and thunderstorms. Some places will even have heavy rain to very heavy rain. At night, there will be scattered showers and thunderstorms.
