Ginseng vermicelli – the mark of a unique product

The Ministry of Industry and Trade continues to support the consumption of typical rural industrial products. On October 10, the Ceremony to honor typical rural industrial products in the Southern region in 2024 will be held.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quan - Director of Minh Phuc Agricultural and Service Cooperative (Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province) - said that the ginseng vermicelli product was successfully researched, produced and launched to the market by Minh Phuc Cooperative since 2017. Ginseng vermicelli is a combination of red arrowroot starch and essence extracted from Hoang Sin Co tubers (also known as ground ginseng, potato ginseng) grown at an altitude of over 1,500m above sea level, where the climate is cold and cool. Therefore, it has absorbed the most quintessential substances of heaven and earth, creating each strand of vermicelli that is the most perfect.

In addition, Hoang Sin Co root contains saponin which has many benefits for human health such as: Preventing bad cholesterol in the blood, cancer, enhancing bone health and stimulating the immune system, so the cooperative's ginseng vermicelli product is very popular with many customers.

Therefore, the vermicelli has a strong taste of dong, fragrant with the smell of ginseng, the vermicelli is chewy and crispy. Ginseng vermicelli has gradually become a typical product of Bat Xat land and is known by many people.

However, according to the Director of Minh Phuc Cooperative, to be certified as a typical rural industrial product of the Northern region in 2024, the product must have many advantages. First, this is a product unique to the region. Second, the product must meet the customer's needs for products that are good for the health of consumers. Third, the product must strictly follow the production process, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards, and quality control. Fourth is the issue of price, although the product is good, if the price is not reasonable, it is still very difficult to reach a variety of customer segments.

After being certified as a typical rural industrial product in the Northern region in 2024, the product once again affirms its quality, value and is more trusted by consumers. From there, businesses can improve their market access and participate in more product supply chains, ” Mr. Quan affirmed.

In addition, in the process of producing ginseng vermicelli, the cooperative applies advanced machinery and equipment such as conveyor systems, fiber cutting systems, ginseng water concentration systems, product drying systems, etc. to ensure food safety. At the same time, technology is applied to store raw materials for year-round production. This also contributes significantly to the quality of the product.

Evaluating the program, the Director of Minh Phuc Cooperative affirmed that it was very attractive. Because the program to vote for typical rural industrial products has a strict criteria system, requiring products to be of real quality and meet many factors. The program's attractiveness is also quite high because in addition to the practical support of the program, it also helps businesses to further improve their products.

Furthermore, after being voted as a typical rural industrial product, in addition to the rewards according to regulations, the cooperative was also supported by the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province to participate in fairs and exhibitions to promote and introduce products. “ After being voted, the product has developed strongly, currently reaching an output of about 15 tons of products per year. Ginseng vermicelli is being consumed through clean agricultural product stores and supermarket systems… ”, said Mr. Quan.

With the current good consumption situation, in the coming time, the cooperative will continue to approach and expand sales channels to bring products directly to consumers without going through many intermediaries. This helps to improve product prices, better consumption, and businesses have the opportunity to further expand production scale.

It is known that with the results achieved in product development, along with the outstanding characteristics of ginseng vermicelli, Minh Phuc Agricultural and Service Cooperative has been granted a Certificate of registration of the collective trademark "Sam vermicelli" Bat Xat by the Department of Intellectual Property, Ministry of Science and Technology. This will be a good foundation for the cooperative to promote its products, create trust with consumers, and expand the consumption market.

After ginseng vermicelli was certified as a typical rural industrial product at all levels, Minh Phuc Agricultural and Service Cooperative received active support from Lao Cai Department of Industry and Trade in developing production and expanding consumption markets.
