In round 20 of the Premier League, Man Utd lost 1-2 to Nottingham Forest. This was the 9th defeat of the red half of Manncheser this season. Coach Erik ten Hag was disappointed, blaming the team's injury problems.
" We know why the team is not playing effectively. No one can solve the injury problem like Man Utd is facing. We should have done better with the depth of the squad we have. However, injuries take away our depth of force ," coach Erik ten Hag shared.
The Dutch coach lost almost his entire squad due to injury and player health issues. Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Mason Mount, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof cannot play.
On the bench, Erik ten Hag had to fill in the names of young players like Dan Gore and Willy Kambwala to complete the list.

Man Utd showed a lackluster performance against Nottingham Forest. They controlled 55% of the ball, had 10 shots with 5 on target but lacked ideas. The only bright spot was Marcus Rashford's goal.
Meanwhile, Nottingham made the most of their two shots on target in this match to score two goals. Nicolas Dominguez and Morgan Gibbs-White were the scorers.
" The result was disappointing. To lead 1-0, we tried to win from a goal down and played well. However, we conceded a goal when the opponent counter-attacked. This defeat was not deserved. We lost in the first half because we lacked the necessary energy and concentration ," coach Erik ten Hag commented on the team's performance.
This is Man Utd's last match of 2023. The "Red Devils" lost 21 matches in the calendar year. This sad statistic is only behind 1930 (28 matches), 1972 (25 matches) and 1921 (24 matches).
Man Utd are currently ranked 7th with 31 points. They are at risk of falling to the lower positions if Brighton or Newcastle get good results in the late matches.
Next round, Man Utd meet Tottenham but before that they face Wigan in the FA Cup.
