Mang Den town (Kon Plong district, Kon Tum) is located at an altitude of about 1,200m above sea level. The daytime temperature here is 16-18 degrees Celsius, at night it drops lower, foggy, cold air spreads everywhere. Mang Den has both wild mountains and forests, interspersed with beautiful lakes and waterfalls. In particular, throughout this town there are thousands of cherry blossom trees. Every time
Tet comes, spring comes, tourists from many places flock to Mang Den to admire the cherry blossoms in bloom. This year, cherry blossoms bloom about a month later. However, the number of cherry blossom trees has increased, dyeing the whole land of Mang Den pink. On weekends, tourists flock to Mang Den to admire and "hunt" for themselves the most beautiful photos with cherry blossoms.
This year, tourists often come to Mang Den Central Park, Dak Ke Lake, Dam Bri Lake, Bell Tower, along Highway 24, Pa Sy Waterfall, 37-household area... When seeing photos of cherry blossoms flooding social networks, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh (Pleiku City, Gia Lai) traveled hundreds of kilometers with her friends to hunt for photos on the weekend. Ms. Thanh shared: "Every year, on the occasion of New Year's Day, I often invite my friends to Mang Den to take photos and watch the cherry blossom season. This year, the flowers bloom later but the quantity of flowers is more and more beautiful than in previous years. Going all over Mang Den town and Mang Canh commune, you can see cherry blossom trees in full bloom."
Cherry blossoms usually grow in the mountains and forests, where the climate is cold and humid. The flowers have 5 graceful petals like wild peach blossoms but have a gentle pink color, highlighted by the deep red color of the pistil in the middle. In winter, the trees shed all their leaves and after more than 2 weeks, the cherry blossoms bloom. The flower forest blooms for about 15-20 days. Mr. Pham Van Thang, Vice Chairman of Kon Plong District People's Committee, said that Kon Plong currently has about 300,000 cherry blossom trees. According to the policy of Kon Tum Provincial Party Committee, from now until 2025, the district will build and mobilize the planting of 1 million trees.
In recent times, Kon Plong district has launched many campaigns with organizations to join hands in planting cherry blossoms on main roads. Because they are forest trees, many individuals also plant them on hillsides to green up the bare hills. In the immediate future, the district has determined to focus on planting in Mang Den town, Mang Canh commune, and Hieu commune. The district's environmental service center and seedling center are researching many new cherry blossom varieties that bloom earlier to serve tourists during the New Year. Once the varieties are available, the center will distribute them to people to expand the cherry blossom planting model.
