This is also seen as a way to express the love of the Fatherland and the desire for peace of the Ukrainian people.
The port city of Odessa, Ukraine, has been struggling to cope with Russian airstrikes in recent days, with sirens sounding non-stop. At the same time, power outages occur almost every day.
Social and street documentary photographer Richard Morgan took a series of photos in the city of Odessa, a key transport hub for Ukrainian exports, which has been the target of attacks since the Russia-Ukraine conflict broke out in February 2022.
However, people here are still optimistic and try to find joy through watching Euro 2024, despite the rain of bombs and bullets that can rain down at any time.
Through this, photographer Richard Morgan wanted to breathe life into the photo series with the message: although war is still present and pervasive in Ukraine, the passion for football or more broadly, the love for the Fatherland, always goes hand in hand and never disappears.
No matter how small and humble that presence is, Ukrainians always believe that one day their Fatherland will be free of bombs.
