International Dance Festival

On the evening of August 17, at the Cultural - Cinema Center of Thua Thien - Hue province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province to organize the opening ceremony of the "International Dance Festival - 2024".

The festival will take place from August 17 to 22. The Organizing Committee will award Gold and Silver medals to performances of high artistic quality according to the evaluation results of the Art Council.

Held every three years, the International Dance Festival aims to promote cooperation in the field of culture and arts between Vietnam and countries around the world.

The International Dance Festival is also a place where the cultural quintessence of countries around the world converges through the art of dance; at the same time, it is an opportunity for Vietnamese and international dance artists to share experiences in artistic creation, exchange and absorb unique and diverse values ​​of cultural art forms in the period of integration and development.

The International Dance Festival brings together nearly 500 artists and actors from 17 art troupes representing 9 countries: Laos, Philippines, China, India, Indonesia, Cambodia, United Arab Emirates, Malaysia and host country Vietnam.

With the message "Convergence, creativity - Shine together", the international dance festival is where domestic and foreign artists and actors can freely create, bringing all their artistic talents to dedicate to the audience the most unique dance performances.

According to regulations, works participating in the festival belong to genres such as short dances, dance poems, dance suites, short dance plays... in folk, classical, modern styles...

The participating works have high artistic quality, clearly expressing the content, ideas, and artistic images of the work to the public through factors such as: work structure, dance language structure, music processing, character image building, space and time processing techniques, props, and acting techniques for actors.

Costumes and makeup must be appropriate to the purpose, content, artistic image of the work, cultural traditions of each region, ethnicity, country and appropriate to Vietnamese culture.

In addition, the Organizing Committee encourages new creative works that are imbued with the cultural identity of ethnic groups and countries, reflecting the colorful life of society and people in a true, profound and vivid manner; works that explore and innovate in the form of expression, and combine with other art forms to enrich the form of expression for dance works.
