On the morning of June 26, the Provincial Federation of Labor held the 5th Executive Committee Conference for the 2023-2028 term; reviewed union activities in the first 6 months of 2024 and summarized the emulation movement "Good workers - creative workers" in 2023.
Attending the conference were comrades: Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; representatives of a number of provincial departments, branches and sectors; Standing Committee of the Provincial Labor Federation and typical collectives and individuals in the emulation movement.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Provincial Federation of Labor has closely followed the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws, the targets of the Resolution of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and the basic criteria in the general socio-economic development situation of the province to concretize them into work programs and plans. Thereby, in the first 6 months of the year, the activities of trade unions at all levels have been vibrant with many activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of union members and workers.
Specifically, trade unions at all levels have supported more than 40,000 union members and workers in the province with a total amount of more than 32.8 billion VND; supported 20 families of workers, civil servants and workers in difficult circumstances to build and repair houses at the Trade Union Shelter with a total amount of 710 million VND; organized health check-ups and gave gifts to 200 female workers with a total amount of more than 206 million VND; visited 3,448 union members and workers in difficult circumstances during the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024; supported visits to 489 children of workers in difficult circumstances, with serious illnesses, orphans, and disabilities, with a total amount of more than 146 million VND. The Provincial Labor Federation organized an online contest "Learning about the Resolution of the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, Resolution of the 17th Congress of the Lao Cai Trade Union, term 2023 - 2028" attracting more than 26,000 participants. Trade unions at all levels coordinated and organized hundreds of propaganda and dissemination of legal knowledge to thousands of union members and workers. Patriotic emulation movements were widely launched, associated with the implementation of resolutions of trade union congresses at all levels and activities to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2024).
In the first 6 months of the year, the province established 13 new grassroots unions; developed 3,442 new union members. Introduced 1,224 outstanding union members to participate in Party awareness training classes, 508 union members were admitted to the Party.
The conference also summarized the emulation movement "Good workers - creative workers" in 2023. Accordingly, during the year, the Provincial Federation of Labor coordinated with the Lao Cai Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations to deploy the emulation movement "Good workers - creative workers" to cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in agencies, units, and enterprises in the area to participate in the 8th Lao Cai Provincial Science and Technology Innovation Contest, attracting 23 topics and solutions with 80 contestants with a total value of nearly 10 billion VND. Cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers in the whole province had 4,805 initiatives recognized by competent authorities and had a scope of influence at the grassroots level, with a value of nearly 12 billion VND. Of which, there was 1 initiative with 1 author that achieved effective application and scope of influence at the national level; 64 initiatives with 117 authors and co-authors achieved effective application and scope of influence at the provincial level; 23 groups of topics and invention solutions by 80 authors and associates participated in the 8th Lao Cai Provincial Technical Innovation Contest (2022 - 2023), of which 20 groups of topics and solutions won First, Second, Third and Encouragement prizes at the contest...
Responding to the program "1 million initiatives - efforts to overcome difficulties, creativity, determination to defeat the Covid-19 pandemic" organized by the General Confederation of Labor, the Provincial Confederation of Labor has 11,676 initiatives participating in the program, reaching 284% of the target assigned by the General Confederation of Labor, ranking 34/82 units under the General Confederation of Labor in terms of the number of submitted initiatives; there are 11,087 valid initiatives on the program's software, reaching 269% of the target assigned by the General Confederation of Labor, ranking first in the emulation cluster and block of the General Confederation of Labor...
Speaking at the conference, Comrade Hoang Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of the trade union's activities in the first 6 months of the year, which have made important contributions to the implementation of socio-economic development tasks and ensuring national defense and security of the province.
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested the Provincial Federation of Labor to continue to be flexible and creative in order to create breakthroughs in trade union activities. It is necessary to have measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers when they do not have the conditions to join the trade union organization and have solutions to mobilize workers to voluntarily join the trade union organization; continue to mobilize and propagate cadres, civil servants and workers to actively contribute to building a sustainable province; focus on the management of union members and workers; promote activities in the movement "Good workers - creative workers" so that the movement becomes the goal, driving force and resource to promote the province's socio-economic activities...
At the conference, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor awarded Emulation Flags to 3 collectives, "Creative Labor" Certificates to 11 individuals, and Certificates of Merit to 8 collectives and 30 individuals; The Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 2 collectives and 6 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Excellent Labor - Creative Labor". The Provincial Confederation of Labor awarded Emulation Flags to 11 collectives; Certificates of Merit to 3 collectives and 3 individuals with outstanding achievements in the work of developing union members and grassroots trade unions; Certificates of Merit to 12 collectives and 70 individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Excellent Labor - Creative Labor" in 2023.
On this occasion, the Provincial Federation of Labor inaugurated the Lao Cai Trade Union Traditional Room. This is where important historical documents, images and artifacts in the construction and development of the Lao Cai Provincial Federation of Labor are kept.
