On the afternoon of February 2 (ie January 5), at the special national relic site of Xuong Giang Victory Site, the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang City (Bac Giang) solemnly held the opening ceremony of the Spring Temple of At Ty 2025.
Attending the ceremony were comrades: Vu Tri Hai - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Bac Giang City; Thach Van Chung - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Bac Giang City Party Committee ; Dang Dinh Hoan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Bac Giang City; comrades of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and the City Fatherland Front Committee.
The victory at Xuong Giang in 1427 ended the 20 years of Ming rule over our country. Dai Viet was peaceful and prosperous, opening a new era in the history of the nation. To celebrate the victory over the Ming army, in 1428, after ascending the throne, King Le Loi held a festival to reward his troops and read the "Binh Ngo Dai Cao". In the context of that common joy, in Kinh Bac, where the capital was Xuong Giang citadel, a great festival was also held to pay homage to heaven and earth and bestow blessings on the people.
Since then, the people of Xuong Giang have held festivals in early spring to arouse pride in this victory. The Xuong Giang Victory Festival is held in early spring, from the 5th to the 7th of January. It is also the occasion for the villages around Xuong Giang citadel to hold traditional village festivals. At that time, the ancient villages around Xuong Giang citadel, due to their contributions to the Xuong Giang victory, received the king's blessings. The local people organized a procession of offerings to Xuong Giang citadel to perform a ceremony and hold a festival to celebrate the victory. Since then, the Xuong Giang Victory Festival has become a large festival, attracting the participation of many people in the area around Xuong Giang citadel and tourists from all over. In recent years, the Xuong Giang Victory Festival has been held on a city scale.
On December 31, 2019, the Prime Minister signed a Decision to rank the Xuong Giang Victory Site as a Special National Monument. On November 10, 2023, the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued Decision No. 3443/QD-BVHTTDL on including the traditional festival of Xuong Giang, Bac Giang City in the List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The temple opening ceremony is the opening activity for a series of activities taking place at the festival commemorating the Xuong Giang Victory. Here, the elders in the sacrificial team perform the ceremony to worship heaven and earth, the king, the Lam Son heroes and the heroes and soldiers who died in the Xuong Giang battle. The traditional rituals take place solemnly in the sacred space of the festival, contributing to expressing the morality of "remembering the source of water when drinking", national pride and the sense of responsibility of the people in participating in preserving, promoting and exploiting the cultural heritage value of the Xuong Giang Victory festival in contemporary life.
Here, the worship team performed the rituals and opened the Xuong Giang temple. The leaders of the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of Bac Giang city offered incense and performed the ritual of releasing fish and birds to pray for national peace and prosperity, favorable weather, and happiness for every family.
During the festival, there are many activities such as: Performance of intangible cultural heritage: Cheo singing, Ca Tru singing, Quan Ho singing; Quan Ho singing on boats at Thuy Dinh Lake of the Xuong Giang Victory Relic Site; screening of animated films about the history of the Xuong Giang victory; exhibition of photos of memories of the Xuong Giang victory; folk games: bird fighting, walking on the bridge, blindfolded pot smashing, blindfolded duck catching...; reenactment of the cultural space of the rural market and the City's culinary festival; sports exchanges;.../.
