Launching the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Cao Son emphasized: Environmental protection in the process of socio-economic development today is an urgent and global issue. This is not only the responsibility of an individual, an organization or a country but also the responsibility of all peoples and countries for life in the world.
In recent years, Ninh Binh has been developing quite rapidly, the economic structure has shifted in a positive direction, rapidly increasing the proportion of industry, construction, services, and tourism; the new rural construction movement has developed strongly, the appearance of rural areas has changed every day; environmental protection activities in general and protection of marine and island environmental resources in particular have had many changes, the level of increasing pollution, degradation and environmental incidents has been gradually prevented; natural resources and marine resources have been protected and used reasonably; people's awareness of environmental protection and the importance of the sea and islands has been raised.
However, the province's environmental issues still pose many potential risks and challenges; many production and business establishments and investment projects still violate environmental protection laws. The environment in residential areas and rural areas still has many problems.
This year's World Environment Day theme is "Land restoration, drought and desertification prevention" is an opportunity for us to affirm our determination, change our awareness, unify our actions, proactively overcome difficulties and challenges, prevent the increase in the rate of pollution and environmental degradation, exploit and use resources sustainably, and ensure ecological balance.
The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee called on departments, branches, sectors, unions, localities, organizations, individuals and businesses to take practical actions to solve environmental pollution problems, protect the sea and ocean; exploit and sustainably use resources in general and marine resources in particular, focusing on the following tasks and solutions:
Strengthening propaganda and dissemination of policies and laws. Unifying awareness and action to respond responsibly to the sea and ocean; overcoming and eliminating the mindset of pursuing immediate economic benefits while neglecting the maintenance and protection of the environment.
Strengthen the management of land resources, mineral resources, and water resources in a reasonable manner; increase tree density, plant forests, and protect forests to increase groundwater resources and prevent erosion.
Promote the socialization of environmental protection work to mobilize maximum social resources to effectively carry out environmental protection work; perfect mechanisms and policies to encourage enterprises, communities, organizations and individuals at home and abroad to participate in investing in environmental protection work, especially in waste collection, transportation, recycling and treatment services.
Strengthen inspection, examination, supervision and strict handling of violations of the law in the field of environmental protection and protection of marine and island environmental resources in the province.
Speaking at the launching ceremony, comrade Pham Quoc Dat, Vice Chairman of Yen Mo District People's Committee emphasized: In recent years, environmental protection work has received special attention from the Party Committee and authorities at all levels in Yen Mo district and has achieved many remarkable results such as: Planning to plant many urban trees, investing in synchronous upgrading of sidewalks and rural roads; building a sewer system and the main drainage canal of the district... Regularly organizing general cleaning, sweeping, and clearing bushes on village roads and alleys.
Waste collection and transportation have become routine, and the classification of domestic solid waste has initially achieved remarkable results in Khanh Thinh and Yen Dong communes.
However, the urbanization process is taking place rapidly, the socio-economic development is accompanied by complex underlying factors, environmental protection work still has certain limitations, especially the collection and treatment of wastewater has not been invested synchronously; the management and control of waste sources is not strict, people's awareness of collecting pesticide packaging is not high...
In the coming time, Yen Mo district will continue to promote the dissemination of the Party's viewpoints and policies, the State's policies and laws on seas and islands. Strengthen inspection, examination, supervision, handling or proposing handling according to authority for establishments violating the provisions of the law on environmental protection.
