On the evening of April 18, KTP Global - the organizer of Mister Tourism World - in Vietnam spoke out after the international organization announced to strip the title of Mister Tourism World 2015 of the Vietnamese representative.
"The international organizing committee of Mister Tourism World announced the adjustment of the results to the organizing unit in Vietnam via email. Accordingly, the Malaysian representative is The winner, representing Vietnam, is the first runner-up. Unilaterally announcing changes to the results after the final night nearly 2 months after it took place has no legal basis in Vietnam," the Vietnamese organizing committee said.
The hosting unit believes that the conditions for organizing beauty and male pageants on Vietnamese territory are stipulated in Decree No. 144/2020/ND-CP. Only the licensed organizing committee in Vietnam in coordination with the State management agency has the authority to announce and adjust the title.
"We do not recognize any results that are modified in violation of legal procedures, without the consistency and consensus of domestic organizers. The act of adjusting the coronation results after the final night affects the image, contestants and the transparent organization process," the organizers shared.
The organizer of the contest in Vietnam said that the final round of the World Tourism Mister 2025 contest on the night of February 18 in Ninh Thuan was supervised by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province. The winner was model Huu Hung, the representative of Malaysia stopped at the first runner-up position.
"The results are recorded in the official scoring minutes, fully signed by the judges, the organization's representative and publicly announced at the live television event. The result of Mister World Tourism 2025 is the representative of Vietnam - Hung Nguyen approved by the regulatory authority in Vietnam," the organizers added.
The source of the controversial title stripping announcement
Mister Tourism World fanpage announced the swap of the positions of King and First Runner-up on the evening of April 18. The previous winner, Hung Nguyen, was demoted to second place. The Malaysian runner-up was announced as the 8th Mister Tourism World.
"We have noted that there are questions surrounding the results announced in the final night of February 18 in Vietnam. The organizing committee is reviewing the entire process to reaffirm its commitment to fairness. In the journey of development and improvement as an international competition, we have implemented a strict internal verification and control process to ensure the highest accuracy and transparency in the upcoming season," the fanpage posted.
Previously, the Mister Tourism World fanpage announced the suspension and revocation of the titles of King Hung Nguyen and 5 runners-up. The incident originated from the international organization receiving a complaint and protest against the results of the 1st runner-up from Malaysia.
On March 19, the host of Mister Tourism World in Vietnam said that the organizing committee had specifically explained the incident to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province.
"According to Decree 144 of the Vietnamese Government, the organization and recognition of beauty and model contest titles in Vietnam are carried out by licensed units. The World Tourism Mister 2025 contest is licensed to be organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ninh Thuan province. Any decision related to the contestants' titles must be reviewed and approved by the competent authority and the contest organizing committee," the representative of the organizing committee informed.
The host of Mister Tourism World in Vietnam also publicly announced a detailed score sheet with the judges' signatures recognizing Hung Nguyen as the winner of Mr Tourism World, with the Malaysian representative coming in second.
"Malaysian Representative - Muhammad Asyraf Bin Mohd Dasli did not win as many sub-contests as the Vietnamese representative. The competition results were evaluated fairly, objectively and in accordance with the process. We have explained the results to the international organization but have not received any response. We will continue to contact to resolve the matter," the representative of the organizing committee affirmed.
