
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Hoan Kiem District People's Committee Pham Tuan Long said: In the atmosphere of the whole country celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025); 139 years of International Labor Day (May 1, 1886 - May 1, 2025); towards the 71st anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2025) and the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter Management Board coordinated with units and individuals to organize a series of unique cultural activities at many locations in the district. This is an opportunity for Hanoi to introduce the quintessence of traditional craft villages, where people and tourists can admire unique and creative handicrafts based on traditional materials.
Representing the Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft village (Thuong Tin district), artisan Nguyen Dac Luyen shared: After nearly 1,000 years of formation and development, the Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft village is still maintaining and developing the traditional craft of its ancestors, creating jobs for thousands of workers in neighboring communes. “Currently, the Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft village is still maintaining its traditional production activities. Many young artisans are following in their family's footsteps, bringing new creations to meet the increasingly diverse needs of the market,” artisan Nguyen Dac Luyen shared.

In the series of events celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South in Hanoi's Old Quarter, people and tourists will be able to see many attractive displays and exhibitions about craft villages such as: Exhibition of rattan and bamboo weaving with the theme "Made of Tre"; exhibition of art installations about Hang Bac craft street by artist The Son at Kim Ngan Communal House; exhibition introducing Chuyen My mother-of-pearl inlay craft and organizing experiential workshops at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center (50 Dao Duy Tu); exhibition of propaganda paintings at the Center for Culture and Arts (22 Hang Buom); exhibition introducing and exchanging culture - tourism between Hanoi and Phu Yen at the Old Quarter Heritage Information Center (28 Hang Buom).


In addition, residents and tourists can also enjoy many art exhibitions such as: Photo exhibition with the theme "Memories and Legends" at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center; display - exhibition " Discovering the history of Hoan Kiem Lake" at the Hoan Kiem Lake Cultural Information Center; installation of the exhibition space "Discovering heritage" at the villa at 46 Hang Bai.

In addition, on this occasion, many stages in the Old Quarter also held performances such as: Traditional music performance "Old Quarter Music Story" at the Hanoi Old Quarter Cultural Exchange Center; traditional music performances, contemporary folk music, revolutionary songs... at the walking space around Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter.
