Lam Dong The 300m long curve on Prenn Pass is equipped with Korean technology guardrails, at a cost of 4.3 billion VND, to limit damage in case of accidents.
The information was announced by Mr. Vo Ngoc Minh Phat, Deputy Director of the Traffic Project Management Board of Lam Dong Province on January 31. This is a new technology with a high cost, but after testing in many localities, it has proven effective. The pass section with rotating guardrails is a curve near the Dalanta tourist area, which is quite crowded with vehicles every day.

According to the construction unit, the rotating wheels are made from soft plastic beads. In the event of a collision, this guardrail system absorbs the impact force directly through the shock absorber mechanism and evenly distributes the force to the entire structural system including the fence, rotating wheels and pillars.
In addition, the rotating wheels help convert the impact force into sliding moment, bringing the vehicle back on track, limiting overturning and multiple accidents. This type of guardrail was previously installed on a trial basis in Hoa Binh, Ho Chi Minh City, Kon Tum, Quang Ninh...

Today, Prenn Pass was opened to traffic after nearly a year of construction, doubling its width from 7 to 14 meters, with 4 lanes for cars. The total investment for the project is 552 billion VND. The pass connects National Highway 20 - the main artery from the Southeast region to Da Lat, which is often crowded and overloaded on weekends, holidays and Tet.
