Early in the morning, the villagers performed a worshiping ceremony at Co Bac mausoleum, followed by a fishing ceremony - a welcoming ceremony at Bai Bac, a whale grave worshiping ceremony (at the whale cemetery), a performance of Ba Trao singing, and a worshiping ceremony for the ancestors. After the ceremony, the fishermen held a meeting at the beginning of the year, wishing them good luck and preparing for the new fishing season.
The fishing festival is a cultural feature of coastal fishing villages when Tet comes. Before that, on February 16 (January 19), Thuan An village held a ceremony to worship the Lady Ngoc's tomb on Ban Than mountain and a basket boat racing competition.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Tho - Secretary of the Party Cell of Thuan An village said that the fishing festival in Thuan An fishing village has existed for a long time, there is a whale cemetery with more than 500 graves. Not only fishermen in the village but also people from the homeland living far away always come to the festival to pray for favorable weather, prosperity and happiness for the villagers.
