Tu Tam Charity Club, An Khanh Commune (Dai Tu) supports monthly necessities for Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin, Cu Van Commune. |
On weekends, when many people spend time relaxing with their families, members of the Tu Tam volunteer club (An Khanh commune) and staff of the Dai Tu district Red Cross Society went to Cu Van commune to visit and give gifts to families in especially difficult circumstances. Not only going alone, many members also brought their children and grandchildren to participate, as a way to educate and sow seeds of compassion and responsibility to the community.
During this trip, the delegation organized humanitarian addresses for 4 disadvantaged families in hamlets 8, 10, 13 and 6. Each household was supported with 10kg of rice and necessities such as fish sauce, MSG, cooking oil, with a total value of 240,000 VND/month for a whole year.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thin, 73 years old, living alone in a small house in Hamlet 10 , emotionally shared: "I have no husband, no children, and poor health. Every month I have to spend more than one million VND to buy medicine to treat heart disease, diabetes, and polyarthritis. Without everyone's support, I don't know how to live."
Also receiving support from the club, Mr. Nguyen Chi Bang, from hamlet 8, who has been in a wheelchair for many years with dry marrow disease, expressed his gratitude: "No one wants to be in this situation, but we have to accept this fate. We don't know what to say other than our sincere thanks to you guys."
Established in 2023, Tu Tam Charity Club of An Khanh commune currently has more than 20 members, mainly farmers, workers, and small traders in the area. Although not well-off, they all share the same desire to do good deeds. Thanks to the strong connection, the club has established nearly 20 humanitarian addresses in An Khanh and Cu Van communes, while organizing gift giving, providing relief to people affected by natural disasters and floods, and mobilizing donations of necessities.
Mr. Pham Van Bac, Club Chairman: With the spirit of "helping each other", the Club has continuously connected and supported difficult circumstances, through attaching humanitarian addresses, giving gifts and carrying out other charitable activities. To help the right people, in the right circumstances, whenever there is information about a difficult case, the Club sends people to verify before calling for support". All information about the circumstances and donations are posted publicly and transparently through images and videos directly on social networks.
Not only Tu Tam Volunteer Club, Dai Tu district currently has 21 volunteer clubs operating effectively in most communes and towns with names such as: Volunteer Clubs of My Yen, La Bang, Tien Hoi, Phuc Linh, Binh Thuan communes; SOS Club "Nguoi Dai Tu"; FC36 Charity; Sen Hong Club, Huong Nguoc Nang... with hundreds of volunteers participating. Since the beginning of the year, these clubs have linked 274 humanitarian addresses with a total support value of more than 1.2 billion VND, helping many poor households overcome difficulties.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh, President of Dai Tu Red Cross Society: The activities of the clubs in the communes, like an extension of humanitarian work, spread the spirit of "everyone doing good deeds, every family doing good deeds" everywhere. Not only stopping at giving gifts or monthly food support, many other forms of assistance such as building and repairing charity houses, granting savings books, sponsoring food money, monthly tuition fees for poor students are also implemented by the clubs, teams, and groups.
