There are 51 health insurance cards (total value of 50 million VND) sponsored by philanthropists in Phu My Town, through Thanh Nien Newspaper to give to fishermen in difficulty.

Ms. Ho Ngoc Dung, Vice Chairman of Tan Hoa Commune People's Committee, said that in Phuoc Hiep and Phuoc Long villages, many households work in fishing, and their lives are unstable. "In recent years, the fishing industry has encountered many difficulties, making the lives of the people in the two villages even more difficult. Although the locality has mobilized many philanthropists and organizations to support social security and health insurance cards for fishermen, up to now, there are still dozens of households without cards. Many cases of illness come unexpectedly, and people have to borrow money from everywhere to treat the disease, making life even more difficult. The locality thanks Thanh Nien Newspaper and philanthropists for their concern and giving health insurance cards to fishermen in difficulty," Ms. Dung shared.

Mr. Lung and his wife were happy when Thanh Nien Newspaper gave them health insurance cards.

Receiving the health insurance card, fisherman Vo Van Lung (59 years old) was moved: "I have been fishing for decades but my life has not improved. Every day I catch seafood and earn a few hundred thousand dong, sometimes I don't have money to go to the market. I have never had enough money to buy a health insurance card for myself. Now that Thanh Nien Newspaper and benefactors have given me a health insurance card, I am very happy. I am very happy."

Mr. Lung goes fishing every day to take care of his wife, Mrs. Nguyen Thi Dung (53 years old), who is sick and unable to walk. Due to illness and lack of money for treatment, Mrs. Dung's condition was too severe when she went to the hospital. In 2021, Mrs. Dung was taken to a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City for treatment and had her left arm and leg amputated.

"This morning my husband still went fishing but came back early to go to the commune to receive his health insurance card. I am sick, thanks to the health insurance card, when I go to the doctor, I save money on medicine. My husband is often sick but doesn't dare to go to the doctor because he doesn't have money. I also want him to stop fishing because he is old, but if he doesn't work, where will he get the money to pay for it? Now that Thanh Nien Newspaper and other benefactors have given him a health insurance card, my husband and I are very happy," said Ms. Dung.

Over the years, Thanh Nien Newspaper has awarded hundreds of health insurance cards, bicycles, and built solidarity houses for people, fishermen, and disadvantaged students in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.
