According to data from the Provincial Statistics Office, in 2024, trade and service activities in Thanh Hoa have made positive progress, contributing to brightening the general economic picture of the province. Total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the province is estimated at over 198,000 billion VND, up 14.3% over the previous year. Most groups of goods and services have positive growth, notably food and beverage services up 4.82%, beverages and tobacco up 1.53%; apparel, hats, footwear up 2.21%; housing and construction materials up 3.45%; household appliances and equipment up 2.05%; medicine and medical services up 8.1%... These results are evidence of the stable development and expansion potential of Thanh Hoa's retail market in the coming time.

To achieve these positive results, the province has implemented a series of important solutions such as strengthening trade promotion, organizing activities to connect supply and demand between Thanh Hoa and provinces and cities across the country, helping businesses expand their product consumption markets. Effectively implementing the campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods", bringing Vietnamese goods closer to consumers, supporting domestic enterprises to develop sustainably; improving market management, strictly controlling supply and demand, strictly handling counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods, ensuring a healthy business environment; developing commercial infrastructure; focusing on expanding the retail system in rural areas, helping people access quality goods more easily.

In 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade of Thanh Hoa actively worked with many large enterprises such as Central Retail Group to promote the consumption of agricultural products, fresh food and specialty goods of the province in the GO! Thanh Hoa supermarket system. At the same time, it advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue policies to support production, business and stimulate consumption, notably the 2024 national concentrated promotion program - Vietnam Grand Sale 2024, National E-commerce Week and Vietnam Online Shopping Day - Online Friday 2024; trade promotion delegations in the United States, China, Korea, Japan, etc. These policies not only help retail businesses in the province expand their scale but also create opportunities for Thanh Hoa goods to access international markets.

Commenting on the prospects for retail development in 2025, Deputy Director of Thanh Hoa Department of Industry and Trade Tran Duc Luong said: The province's retail industry is expected to continue to maintain strong growth momentum thanks to the stability of the economy and the sustainable development of commercial infrastructure. Along with the digital transformation trend and the explosion of e-commerce, Thanh Hoa's retail market will have great opportunities to develop strongly in the coming year. In particular, the combination of traditional and online retail channels will be the main driving force to help businesses reach customers more effectively, while enhancing the shopping experience.

Expect the retail industry to break through in 2025 Thanh Hoa strives to achieve total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue of the whole province of 209,000 billion VND by 2025.

To achieve this goal, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to implement policies to support businesses, encourage investment in modern trade infrastructure, expand distribution channels and improve service quality. The Department will also promote the development of a multi-channel retail model, combining traditional trade and e-commerce, to meet the increasing needs of consumers. In addition, trade promotion programs, promotions and consumer fairs will be organized to stimulate demand and expand the market. In addition, market management will be strengthened, goods quality control will be controlled, trade fraud and counterfeit goods will be strictly handled, and consumer rights will be protected. At the same time, attracting investment from large retail corporations, developing modern logistics and supply chains will also be focused on to create a solid foundation for the development of the retail industry in 2025.

Despite facing many challenges in the context of a volatile global economy, Thanh Hoa's retail industry still recorded positive results in 2024 and is expected to have a strong breakthrough in 2025 thanks to the recovery prospects of the Vietnamese economy. In the long term, with rapid urbanization, strong development of e-commerce and increasing income and living standards of people, the retail industry will have many opportunities to develop remarkably. These factors not only promote the growth of the consumer market but also create a solid momentum for Thanh Hoa's retail industry to confidently complete its goals in 2025, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the province reaching 209,000 billion VND.
