Disciplinary warning for former Chairman of Quang Ngai Provincial People's Committee

Information from the Government Office said that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh signed Decision No. 1381/QD-TTg dated November 13, 2024 on disciplinary action against Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.

According to Decision 1381/QD-TTg, Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang, former Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province for the 2011-2016 and 2016-2021 terms, was disciplined in the form of a warning due to violations and shortcomings in his work and was subject to Party discipline; the disciplinary period is calculated from the date of announcement of Decision No. 1749-QD/UBKTTW dated September 26, 2024 of the Central Inspection Commission (CIC).

Previously, on the afternoon of September 11, the Central Inspection Commission issued an announcement stating: The Standing Committee of the Quang Ngai Provincial Party Committee for the terms 2010-2015, 2015-2020, the Party Committee of the Provincial People's Committee for the terms 2011-2016, 2016-2021 violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations; lacked responsibility, loosened leadership and direction, allowing the Provincial People's Committee and many organizations and individuals to seriously violate Party regulations and State laws in organizing the implementation of a number of projects and bidding packages implemented by Phuc Son Group Joint Stock Company.

Many cadres and party members, including key cadres of Quang Ngai province, have degraded in political ideology, ethics, lifestyle, violated laws on corruption prevention and control, violated regulations on what party members are not allowed to do and the responsibility to set an example.

The above violations have caused serious consequences, risking loss and waste of large amounts of State money and assets, causing bad public opinion, reducing the prestige of the Party organization and local government, to the point of requiring disciplinary action.

Personal responsibility belongs to a number of officials, including Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang, former Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ngai province.

The Central Inspection Commission decided to impose a disciplinary warning on Mr. Tran Ngoc Cang.
