Project 8 “Achieving gender equality and solving urgent issues for women and children”, under the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minorities and Mountainous Areas for the period 2021 – 2030, Phase I: From 2021 – 2025 (abbreviated as National Target Program 1719) is a continuous effort for gender equality and caring for and protecting the rights of women and children in ethnic minorities and mountainous areas. It includes ensuring the voice and substantive participation of women and children in socio-economic development activities of the community, monitoring and criticism; supporting women to participate in leadership in the political system.
After more than 3 years of implementing Project 8, the Women's Union at all levels in Kon Tum province has coordinated with relevant units to establish 306 community communication teams, with 1,375 members participating in the communication team; established 55 "Leaders of Change" Clubs, with 239 participants, including 153 girls; newly established 65 Trusted Addresses, consolidating 77 Trusted Addresses to support the protection of women who are victims of domestic violence.
To continue effectively implementing the goals and targets of Project 8, the Provincial Women's Union organized 05 training courses for 230 delegates on developing gender mainstreaming capacity; 04 training courses for 133 delegates on guiding policy dialogue work. The Union at all levels organized 103 policy dialogues, with the participation of 1,200 members and women; organized 1,564 dissemination sessions to 105,185 women members on improving knowledge for members and women to promote internal strength, solidarity, and mutual support in economic development...
At the forum, in addition to the report assessing the results of the implementation of the content of ensuring the voice and substantive participation of women and children in the socio-economic development activities of the community in Kon Tum province, typical collectives and individuals had presentations to share knowledge, good experiences, and lessons learned from practice at the grassroots level. At the same time, they pointed out the difficulties and limitations in the implementation process, and proposed solutions to promote more effectively the assurance of the voice and substantive participation of women and children in the socio-economic development activities of the community in the following years.
The opinions expressed at the forum were compiled, studied and applied by the Provincial Women's Union in its direction and orientation work in the coming time; at the same time, recommendations and proposals were made to the Party Committee and local authorities to continue effective implementation in the coming time.
