Timely rescue of 2 drowning children

Recently, two children in Binh Minh town (Kim Son) unfortunately drowned and were promptly rescued by the people and officers of Squadron 2, Ninh Binh Border Guard.

At about 6:35 p.m. on May 20, 2023, officers and soldiers of Squadron 2, Ninh Binh Border Guard heard shouts and cries for help from the dike on the right bank of the Day River in Block 12 - Binh Minh Town. Immediately, Major Le Van Thang - Deputy Squadron Leader, along with 4 border guards and local people quickly went to the area where the victims were, coordinating with the family to rescue 2 children who were drowning.

At this time, the people of Hamlet 1, Kim Dong Commune had just brought two unconscious children to shore and revived one child, but the other child had not yet responded. Everyone was very confused and did not know how to handle the situation. Fortunately, Major Pham Van Vuong, a military medical staff, had just arrived in time and quickly performed rescue measures, cleared the airway, performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, and "cardiopulmonary resuscitation". After more than 6 minutes, the victim responded and regained consciousness, to the joy of everyone and his family.

After providing initial care and stabilizing the child's psychology , border guards quickly transferred the victim to a car and took him to Kim Son District General Hospital.

The two rescued children are Nguyen Thi Hoang Yen (born 2014) and Nguyen Thi Lan Huong (born 2020), residing in block 12 - Binh Minh town.

According to Dr. Tran Tuan Anh, Head of the Emergency Department of Intensive Care, Kim Son District General Hospital: The two victims were brought to the hospital's emergency department in a state of drowning, with weak voices. Fortunately, the children received proper first aid and were successfully saved. The patients were immediately warmed up and given medical procedures before being transferred to Ninh Binh Province Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital for further treatment.

Major Pham Van Vuong said : "At that time, I didn't have time to think, I just tried to quickly save the victims. Until now, I feel very happy and glad that both children were saved in time, and even happier that their health is recovering well."

The ability to handle situations quickly and promptly by officers and soldiers of Border Guard Squadron 2 is a noble gesture, demonstrating love and wholehearted service to the people, contributing to beautifying the image of "Uncle Ho's soldiers" in the hearts of the people.
