At the conference, Mr. Nguyen Truc Son - Vice Chairman of Ben Tre Provincial People's Committee informed that the province's socio-economic situation continued to recover positively and develop better than some high-growth areas compared to the same period; the work of preventing saltwater intrusion was effective, contributing to maintaining stable agricultural production.
Cultural, social and social security activities have been improved; the organizational structure has been arranged to ensure compliance with the set plans and roadmaps, contributing to streamlining and effectively operating the state administrative apparatus in the province. The work of preventing corruption and negativity has been promoted. Political security and social order and safety have been maintained.
Specifically, the province's economy maintained its growth momentum, with an estimated GRDP growth rate of 5.27%. Of which, the industrial and construction sector continued to be a bright spot with an estimated growth rate of 10.55%; the service sector increased by 5.36%; the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 2.28%; and product taxes increased by 2.47%.
State budget revenue in the area in the first 9 months of the year reached 82.48% of the central budget estimate and 81.36% of the local budget estimate, up 18.37% over the same period.
Tourism activities have developed well, and state management of tourism has been strengthened. In the first 9 months of the year, the total number of tourists was 1,973,165, up 15.1% over the same period, (of which international visitors were 404,589); estimated revenue reached 2,470 billion VND, up 15% over the same period.
In the past 9 months, the province's socio-economic situation has had bright spots. The most outstanding is the result of new rural construction (NTM). In the first 9 months of the year, 16/17 communes met NTM standards, 13/14 advanced NTM communes, 10/5 model NTM communes; up to now, the whole province has 112/139 communes met NTM standards, reaching 80.58%. Cho Lach district met NTM standards and Ben Tre city completed the task of building NTM. The dossier requesting consideration and recognition of Mo Cay Nam district meeting NTM standards is being appraised by the Central Government.
Concluding the conference, Comrade Tran Thanh Lam, Standing Deputy Secretary of Ben Tre Provincial Party Committee, expressed his gratitude and contribution of central and local press agencies to the socio-economic development of Ben Tre province. At the same time, he requested provincial departments and branches to pay more attention to the reflection of the press.
Hopefully, "the press agencies will continue to accompany the locality to widely propagate the province's policies and guidelines to increase awareness and achieve high consensus among the people in the province", Mr. Tran Thanh Lam expected.
At the conference, Mr. Doan Van Danh, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Ben Tre province, said that the province currently has 133 basic growing areas that meet production conditions according to current regulations; registered for codes for fresh coconut growing areas for export with an area of nearly 8,400 hectares and over 12,800 participating households.
Last September, the Chinese delegation passed the inspection assessment, of which 13 growing areas were inspected and have the potential to export to the Chinese market.
"The provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is planning to ask the provincial People's Committee for permission to organize a coconut export ceremony to China this October," said Mr. Doan Van Danh.
