Experience in campaigning for land donation for road construction in Lung Than

Based on the common interest, hundreds of households in Lung Than commune (Si Ma Cai district) are willing to donate land and crops so that the locality can expand inter-village and inter-commune roads.

In early 2023, when there was a plan to renovate and upgrade the road from Lung Than commune (Si Ma Cai) to Lung Phinh commune (Bac Ha), without needing the government's permission, Mr. Giang Seo Nha, Head of Nang Cang village, registered to donate a part of the land on the road passing through his house. During the construction process, his family voluntarily cut down trees to facilitate the leveling of the ground.

Mr. Nha confided: As the village chief, I discussed with the pioneering family to donate first so that the villagers could follow suit. The old road has deteriorated, while the travel needs of the people of the two communes are increasing. When the road is widened, the people's travel, daily activities as well as production development will be more convenient.

Like Mr. Nha, in Lung Than commune, there are 30 households who are cadres, party members, party cell secretaries, village chiefs, prestigious people and clan leaders who also took the lead in donating land to build roads. The movement of donating land to build roads took place enthusiastically.

Lung Than commune has 288 households donating about 155,000 m2 ^of land and many crop areas, estimated to be worth over 30 billion VND. Typically, households in Nang Cang and Seng Sui villages: Vang Seo Chu, Giang Seo Nenh, Hang Seo Din, Thao Seo Chua... have voluntarily donated from 5,000 - 9,000 ^m2 of land to build roads. In addition, many households voluntarily dismantled their assets, creating the most favorable conditions for construction units to speed up progress.

With the high consensus and agreement of the people, the construction of 18 rural and connecting traffic projects in Lung Than commune has been smooth. The site clearance work for the roads has ensured the set progress.

Comrade Hang Seo Toan, Chairman of Lung Than Commune People's Committee, said: During the implementation process, the local Party Committee and government have done a good job of propagating and implementing the Grassroots Democracy Regulations according to the motto "People know, people discuss, people do, people inspect, people supervise, people benefit". In particular, promoting the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres, party members, village and hamlet leaders, inspiring people to follow... so that the roads are increasingly open.
