Many export products increased quite well.
One of the sectors that continues to maintain high growth in Nghe An is textiles, with an increase of 36%.
In Hoang Mai town, Vinatex garment factory is built on an area of over 32,000 m2, with 24 sewing lines, creating jobs for about 900 workers. The main products are men's and women's clothing, exported to markets in Europe, America, Japan, etc.
Mr. Tran Van Hoa - Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of Vinatex Hoang Mai Garment Joint Stock Company, said that in 2024, the company is full of orders until the end of the year and has had many shipments to European and American markets. In the first 3 months of 2025, the production and business situation of Vinatex as a whole increased by 14% over the same period. Most units in the Group have had enough production orders until the end of June 2025 and are continuing to negotiate and sign orders in the third quarter.

In the agricultural sector, one of the leading enterprises in rice export of Nghe An is Vilaconic Joint Stock Company. In 2024, Vilaconic exported about 62,000 tons of rice with a turnover of 40 million USD to more than 50 countries around the world, of which 38,000 tons of rice were exported to the Philippines worth 22.8 million USD.

Vilaconic has successfully promoted its products, affirmed the Vietnamese rice brand and committed to promoting bilateral trade. Recently, we attended the Gulfood 2025 fair in Dubai - the world's largest food fair, and next May, we will continue to bring Vietnamese agricultural products to attend the Thaifex fair in Thailand.

Currently, this enterprise is also developing the premium Bluesilk rice brand with high quality, competing with rice products from Thailand and India. "In addition to the main rice product, we have expanded our export business to include other agricultural products such as pepper, tapioca starch, rice paper, pho noodles, coconut rice... In the first 3 months of the year, we exported about 10,000 tons of rice and spices to the international market," Mr. Hung shared.
Vietnam has participated in 19 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), of which 17 FTAs have been and are being implemented; 2 FTAs are under negotiation. In particular, new generation FTAs that have come into effect in recent years such as CPTPP, EVFTA, UKVFTA, RCEP... are expected to be a "lever" for Vietnam's goods export activities in 2025 and the following years.
Strengthening solutions to maintain growth momentum
In the first quarter of 2025, Nghe An province's export turnover reached 840.92 million USD, up 30.7% over the same period. Import turnover also grew impressively, up 56% over the same period, reflecting the need for investment and production expansion to meet export demand.
Meanwhile, exports nationwide in the first half of March 2025 recorded an increase of about 9.1% over the same period in the context of the global economy and trade gradually recovering. It is forecasted that businesses' export activities will continue to grow in the second quarter of 2025 when many new investment projects in the province come into stable operation.

The growth momentum of exports came from many key product groups. Electronic equipment and components grew strongly with an increase of 110%, showing the economic restructuring towards high technology. Other industries also had high growth, specifically: Textiles and garments increased by 36%; Footwear of all kinds increased by 128%, Wood pellets increased by 176%; Electric wires and cables increased by 25%;...
Products of enterprises in the province are exported to 80 countries and territories. Main markets include Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan and the United States.
Mr. Pham Van Hoa - Director of Nghe An Department of Industry and Trade assessed: The import-export situation in 2025 is expected to have favorable conditions. We expect the recovery of the global economy and trade, along with the increasing flow of foreign investment into the province, creating favorable conditions for production and export. Market expansion thanks to free trade agreements will also create new growth momentum. However, we also face challenges such as geopolitical instability, especially the crisis in the Middle East, which can affect the supply chain and transportation costs. The increasing trend of trade protectionism in the world such as EU policies, US reciprocal tax policies, etc. requires flexible policy responses.

To maintain growth momentum and overcome challenges, we focus on the following solutions: Diversify export markets, effectively exploit market opening opportunities through export supply and demand connection activities. Organize business delegations to participate in domestic fairs and exhibitions, such as: Vietnam Export Goods Fair, Foodexpo Fair, International Supply Chain Connection Fair, etc.; Organize forums to connect supply and demand, connect trade in major export markets such as: the United States, China, EU, ASEAN, etc.; Enhance trade transactions, connect trade, promote exports of the province in the Chinese market, UK - Northern Ireland; Promote exports according to the orientation of priority commodity groups in each stage, in line with developments in the world economy, taking advantage of opportunities in international markets as well as domestic markets; Review to support the acceleration of investment attraction projects to put into production and export, especially key industrial projects of the province, creating large sources of goods for export such as: automobile production and assembly; electronic component production projects, etc.
Coordinate with Vietnam Trade Offices abroad to promptly provide and handle problems related to import and export, trade defense, and technical barriers in other countries so that relevant units and enterprises of the province can have timely solutions. Continue to innovate trade promotion activities, apply AI technology to search for markets, encourage businesses to boost consumption of goods through e-commerce trading platforms such as Amazon, Alibaba, etc.
The Department also advised the province to develop a Resolution to support trade promotion activities for enterprises in Nghe An province, including specific policies to support enterprises in export promotion activities. Mobilize resources to invest in transport infrastructure connecting logistics services. This year in particular, the Department will continue to advise on the development of the "Project to develop Nghe An province into a logistics center in the North Central region by 2030, with a vision to 2045" according to the Implementation Plan of Resolution 39-NQ/TW dated July 18, 2023 of the Politburo.
