Provincial People's Committee leaders direct to thoroughly handle violations in Pha Lai

On April 13, the Provincial People's Committee issued a document directing the inspection and final handling of violations by floating restaurants in Pha Lai on Giang River, through Mon Son Commune, Con Cuong District.

In particular, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Bui Dinh Long assigned the Chairman of the Con Cuong District People's Committee to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to urgently inspect, verify and thoroughly resolve the issues reported by the press; handle or propose relevant competent agencies to strictly handle violations according to the provisions of law.

Previously, on April 8, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also issued a document advising and requesting the Provincial People's Committee to direct the handling of this issue. The document of this department stated that on April 5, Nghe An Newspaper published an article "Dramatic handling of violations at Pha Lai tourist site".

The article reflects that for many years, local authorities have issued a series of documents requiring owners of floating restaurants in Pha Lai on the Giang River through Mon Son Commune (Con Cuong District) to stop operations and dismantle illegal constructions, but these households still do not comply.

In early 2025, Con Cuong district established an enforcement committee, but so far, the enforcement has not been carried out, even the barrier that the government built around the dam has been demolished by someone.

The handling of violations in Pha Lai has been at a standstill for many years, as households have not complied with the requests of local authorities. Many solutions have been implemented, along with a series of dialogues between the leaders of the Con Cuong District People's Committee and the violating households, but the case has not been completely resolved.

“The violations of floating restaurant owners in Pha Lai have been reported by the press for many years, causing outrage in public opinion and distorting the image of Nghe An tourism in the eyes of domestic and foreign tourists,” the document of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism stated.

In order to build a professional, nature-friendly tourism environment to attract tourists and tourism investors to Nghe An province, the department has advised the Provincial People's Committee to direct the Con Cuong District People's Committee to urgently inspect, clarify and completely handle the situation mentioned by the Newspaper before April 25, 2025.
