Kien Giang innovates and creates in mass movement work and journalism

According to the report of the Kien Giang Provincial Journalists Association, in the past 6 months, the Provincial Journalists Association has had many innovative, creative and outstanding activities in movement and professional work, affirming its role and position as a common home for local journalists.

Officials and members of the Provincial Journalists Association strictly comply with the provisions of the law on Association activities and press activities; strictly comply with the 10 regulations of the Vietnam Journalists Association on professional ethics of Vietnamese journalists; Rules on the use of social networks by Vietnamese journalists issued by the Vietnam Journalists Association; Code of conduct on social networks issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications in 2021.

In the first 6 months of 2023, the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Inspection Committee and Standing Committee of the Provincial Journalists Association issued more than 120 documents directing and operating the Association's activities; promptly implementing the Association's tasks and advisory documents to the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee on the Association's activities. Proactively coordinating with press agencies, state management agencies of the press and the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department to establish an Organizing Committee to carry out major activities on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day, attracting a large number of members, reporters and journalists to participate.

Many activities took place during the trip to the source, including organizing medical examinations, health consultations, and providing free medicine for over 240 policy families in Vinh Binh Nam and Vinh Binh Bac communes; learning about history at the Rach Gia Provincial Party Committee Relic Site (Xeo Gia Hamlet, Vinh Binh Bac Commune); giving gifts to 5 families who helped and supported press officers of the Rach Gia Provincial Press and Information Subcommittee during the resistance war against the US to save the country. In addition, the Provincial Journalists Association coordinated with businesses in Can Tho City to present 10 bicycles, 2 tons of rice to poor students' families and school supplies to students...

Professional work continues to have many innovations, in which the Kien Giang Provincial Press Award 2023 was widely launched among the people from February 2023. After 3 months of launching, the Organizing Committee received 150 press works from over 95 authors and groups of authors inside and outside the province. Of which, the print and electronic newspaper categories have 55 works; radio newspapers have 27 works; television newspapers have 41 works; photo reports and news photos have 27 works.

At the conference, delegates agreed to set out a number of key tasks for the last 6 months of the year, focusing on protecting the legitimate rights and interests of members; organizing the proper implementation of the Press Law, implementing the Criteria for cultural press agencies and culture of Vietnamese journalists, the Code of Professional Ethics and the Rules for using social networks of Vietnamese journalists.

Directing affiliated branches to implement the new Charter of the Vietnam Journalists Association approved by the Government; summarizing the Association's work and the emulation movement to build a cultural environment in press agencies, completing the report on building a project for provincial press awards...
