Speed up production
It's been raining these days, but rice paper production facilities - a typical rural industrial product of Thang Binh district - are still speeding up production. Ms. Ngo Thi Loc (Tu My village, Binh Tu commune) - owner of Nhieu Loc rice paper production facility said that every day she soaks 120kg of rice, grinds flour, and makes 2,400 rice paper sheets to supply to the Quang Nam and Da Nang markets.
“Previously, making rice paper by hand was a lot of work and depended on the weather. Rain made it impossible to dry the rice paper for baking. Now, using machines makes it much easier.
At the end of the year, during Tet, the demand for food and beverage establishments and restaurants increases. The traditional rice paper making profession is increasingly developing in Thang Binh and other localities. The more competition, the more we have to improve the quality of goods" - Ms. Loc said.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan - Director of Quang Nam Cordyceps Cooperative (Phu Binh village, Tam Phu commune, Tam Ky) said that although 3-star OCOP Cordyceps products have affirmed their brand, due to consumers tightening their spending, goods are consumed slowly.
Previously, he sold 2kg of freeze-dried Cordyceps, Cordyceps soaked in honey, and Cordyceps wine every day, but now he only sells 0.5kg. After a period of searching for new products and goods, Mr. Luan has successfully produced black termite mushrooms.
This is a very new rural industrial product in the province. Every day he sells 20kg of black termite mushrooms at 350,000 VND/kg. In addition, he also grows oyster mushrooms to sell at wholesale markets for extra income.
“The good news is that the year-end and Tet markets are getting busier every day. I will register for OCOP for black termite mushrooms and oyster mushrooms to increase production scale and penetrate deeper into the market. The biggest concern is still hoping that the DTHT market will reopen as before the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Mr. Luan.
Stimulating year-end consumption
Trade promotion and stimulating consumption of goods at the end of the year are being implemented by establishments, cooperatives and enterprises in the province with many solutions.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Luan said that currently, he has opened showrooms in Tam Ky, Quang Binh, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City to promote, connect trade, and open up the market for DTHT products. He has also sold products through e-commerce channels.
“My biggest dream is to expand the export market for DTHT products. I will continue to improve product quality, traceability, packaging, and attractive designs to realize this plan,” said Mr. Luan.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu - Deputy Head of the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Thang Binh district said that to promote the development of rural industrial products and OCOP products, the unit has mobilized many industrial promotion resources of the province and district to support machinery and equipment to help subjects apply mechanization in production.
As in the case of Ms. Ngo Thi Loc, the Economic - Infrastructure Department of Thang Binh district supported 110 million VND (Ms. Loc contributed 126 million VND) to invest in rice paper production machines and baking machines. With the above investment, Ms. Loc reduced her workforce from 15 to 7 people, shortening the production time.
The district supports cooperatives and business owners to promote trade through fairs and exhibitions; and provides guidance on online sales. Cooperatives and production facilities in the area have gradually changed their mindset and approached modern production and business forms, so their efficiency has gradually improved.
According to Mr. Le Vu Thuong - Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, the provincial industry and trade sector always accompanies enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments by organizing many activities to promote the consumption of products and goods, especially at the end of the year and during Tet.
The Department of Industry and Trade has promoted and conducted business on e-commerce trading floors, connecting trade with other provinces, especially promoting regional linkages in developing rural industrial products and OCOP goods.
“We are coordinating with the provincial departments and branches to promote the campaign “Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods” to open up the market for typical products and goods of Quang Nam,” said Mr. Thuong.
According to statistics from the Department of Industry and Trade, total retail sales of goods and service revenue in September 2024 reached VND 6,086 billion (down 0.9% compared to the previous month). Of which, retail sales of goods reached VND 4,199 billion (up 1.1% compared to the previous month, up 2.7% compared to the same period). In the first 9 months of 2024, total retail sales of goods and service revenue reached VND 55.1 trillion (up 8.9% compared to the same period in 2023).
