The Ministry of Construction coordinated with the People's Committee of Bac Kan province to start the investment project to build the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway this morning (March 15).
The starting point of the project is at Km0+00 connecting Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi highway in Cho Moi district, the end point connecting Bac Kan - Cao Bang highway in Bac Kan city. The total length of the entire route is about 28.4km, the section connecting to National Highway 3.B and connecting to Bac Kan - Ba Be lake road is 0.4km long.
This is a route with a design speed of 80km/h, a scale of 4 lanes, and a roadbed width of 22m. There will be 16 bridges and 2 overpasses on the route. At the same time, a grade-separated intersection will be built at the intersection with National Highway 3 at Km9+500 and two level intersections at the beginning of the route at Km0+00 and the end of the route at Km28+829.
The project has a total investment of more than VND 5,750 billion from the state budget, with an implementation period of 24 months and is guaranteed to be basically completed in 2026.

The project is invested by Project Management Board 2, the construction contractor is a consortium of Phuong Thanh Transport Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company, Truong Son Construction Corporation, and Deo Ca Group Joint Stock Company.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh assessed that Bac Kan is a province with great development potential, especially in the fields of agriculture - forestry, processing industry and eco-tourism (Ba Be Lake, Cho Don historical relic site, ...). Therefore, the investment in the Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway will connect Bac Kan with the capital Hanoi and Hai Phong international seaport through a modern road traffic system, reducing transportation time and costs, supporting investment attraction, developing a system of resorts to attract domestic and foreign tourists in Bac Kan, Cao Bang .... Contributing to the goal of having about 5,000km of expressways nationwide by 2030.

To ensure the project's progress, the commander of the transport and construction sector requested the People's Committee of Bac Kan province to continue to focus on and resolutely organize the implementation of site clearance (GPMB). Pay attention to and focus on implementing resettlement for people as soon as possible; support the quick settlement of licensing procedures for mining construction materials; ensure security, order, and organize convenient and safe traffic for people during the implementation process.
Investors, supervision consultants, design consultants and construction contractors must ensure construction progress, quality, safety, environmental sanitation; strictly comply with project technical requirements, and prevent corruption, negativity and waste.

Regarding the newly-started expressway, the Minister of Construction requested that central and local agencies study the use of reserve funds to build a 2km connecting route from the intersection of Cho Moi - Bac Kan expressway to the center of Bac Kan city in a synchronous and unified direction with the old route.
Minister Tran Hong Minh also assigned the Vietnam Road Administration to study and continue implementing the Hanoi - Thai Nguyen, Thai Nguyen - Cho Moi, Bac Kan - Cao Bang expressways to create transportation and logistics connectivity and advantages for localities on the strategic corridor of Hai Phong - Hanoi - Thai Nguyen - Bac Kan - Cao Bang. Try to start at least one project before the Party Congress.
