PRESSURE WHEN ACTING IN MOVIES
The male lead role in the movie Dao, Pho and Piano by Doan Quoc Dam is not his first film role, because in 2020 the actor played a supporting role in the movie Cuoc xe nhu dem , but the lead role in a historical movie on the big screen has opened the way for Doan Quoc Dam to continue his love for cinema. In 2025, it is known that he will try his hand at an action movie, but the role has not been revealed. On prime time TV, the actor from Thai Nguyen is a popular face and a strong force on the small screen in the north with many blockbuster movies. Before, when he first entered the film industry, Doan Quoc Dam still felt a bit hesitant because he did not know if his acting style was suitable for movies or not. But after two roles, he got into the rhythm and felt more comfortable.

Actress Anh Dao is also a promising young face with many notable roles on the small screen in prime time. In 2024, the actress was chosen to play the main role in the movie Hong Ha Nu Si . Acting in a movie for the first time, playing the role of Ms. Doan Thi Diem, a heavy role, Anh Dao said she faced a lot of pressure and difficulties. Although Anh Dao has played 3 main roles in TV series, when entering movies, the working methods and processes are different, forcing her to learn to adapt.

After her "stormy" role on primetime television in "We of 8 Years Later" and several other films, Cu Thi Tra was invited by a Korean director to play a supporting role in "Dreams of You" . For the first time participating in a film, the "third party" of the small screen shared: "TV series last for many episodes, requiring actors to maintain continuous emotions from beginning to end; while films are shorter, each actor must fully express their role in a short period of time. However, that's why I have to focus firmly on my eyes, facial expressions, and dialogue... This is also a huge pressure for me when acting in films".
BIG DIFFERENCE
As a veteran face of the small screen, especially the role of the boss in the movie Doc Dao , artist Vinh Xuong has also just participated in a villain role in a movie scheduled to premiere on September 2 this year. Sharing about the difference between acting in TV series and movies, the male artist said that with TV series, the filming time will be longer, in one day you can film many segments. As for movies, sometimes you only film one scene or a few scenes in a day, so the time for actors to learn about the character, get familiar with the setting, discuss with the director, and research the character will be more thorough. "Acting in movies requires more concentration and actors must use body language, use performance techniques from facial expressions, eyes, and emotions to express themselves most accurately because there is little dialogue. Sometimes there is no dialogue but must convey psychology and emotions. This is something that not every actor can do well," artist Vinh Xuong confided.

Graduated from the acting department of the University of Theater and Cinema (Hanoi), Hoang Kim Ngoc only acts in TV series. Recently, the actress of Ve Nha Di Con was invited to play the female lead in the movie Den Am Hon by director Hoang Nam, so she thinks that movies and TV series are very different. "In TV series, if you don't act well at first, you can fix it and adjust it to perform better in the following episodes. But in movies, you have to act well right from the first second. However, actors who have been trained in acting and have experience will catch up faster, whether acting in TV series or movies," Hoang Kim Ngoc added.
In The Ghost Lamp , the important roles are all given to actors who specialize in TV dramas such as Hoang Kim Ngoc, Tuan Mo... Sharing about this, director Hoang Nam emphasized: "For those who need safety, inviting an actor like Hoang Kim Ngoc or Tuan Mo is risky, but I want to bring surprises to the audience. Currently, young actors in TV dramas are all very talented. The important thing is whether directors see and give them opportunities to approach cinema or not. I want to choose new faces for my movies, bringing something new to the audience."
Artist Vinh Xuong in film creation
Talking about the strengths of actors who act in TV dramas and "cross over" to cinema, director Hoang Nam added: "When actors act in TV dramas, it will help them "market" their image to the director. When they move to cinema, the director will have different, more stringent requirements. At this time, the director's role is very important, helping the actors grasp and create an overall picture of the film. Because when making a film, each gesture and movement of the actor must be controlled best, not improvised like in a TV drama. An actor who does not grasp psychology well, cannot control facial muscles and expressions well, will encounter many problems when making a film."
