On November 12, the People's Committee of Ca Mau province held a ceremony to announce the decision to rank the provincial relic and inaugurate the memorial stele of Uncle Ho with the Southern star apple tree; launch the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in Ca Mau province and launch activities to recreate the 200 days of regrouping to the North.
According to the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, 70 years ago, the Geneva Agreement on the cessation of hostilities in Vietnam was signed, opening a new page in the struggle for national liberation and national reunification. Implementing the agreement, the Vietnamese revolution entered a new phase, including the event of tens of thousands of cadres and soldiers (generally called cadres) in the Southern provinces gathering in Ca Mau and regrouping in the North (Tri Phai commune, Thoi Binh district was the largest concentration).
Implementing the Party's policy, the Southern Party Committee, cadres and local people built a new life together before regrouping to the North. The 200-day regrouping area of the Southwestern resistance force in Tri Phai commune demonstrated the solidarity between our army and people during the days of preparation for regrouping to the North in 1954.
Also in this place, during the days of the troop transfer, many touching events took place. Among them, the most typical event was when Le Thi Sanh asked a revolutionary cadre to send Uncle Ho a star apple tree with the promise: "The Southern compatriots, the people of Tri Phai commune, will always remain loyal to the revolutionary cause led by Uncle Ho and vow to overcome all difficulties to protect and build the country".
The above milk fruit tree was cared for and tended by Uncle Ho. Through that, it shows his affection for the people and soldiers of the South.
Through the above events, we aim to recreate history, arouse patriotism, pride and the spirit of national solidarity. This is an opportunity to promote the image of Thoi Binh homeland, the vivid image of Song Doc estuary during the days of the gathering event to tourists.
“Recognizing the value and historical significance of the gathering event, Ca Mau province has invested in upgrading and renovating the project and decided to recognize the memorial stele of Uncle Ho with the Southern milk fruit tree as a provincial-level relic. I request that the local government come up with a specific plan to preserve and help the project maximize its value,” emphasized Mr. Nguyen Minh Luan, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of Ca Mau province.
Also at the ceremony, the leaders of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province launched the program of "eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses" in the area and the activity of reenacting 200 days of gathering took place in the two communes of Tri Phai and Tri Luc.
