Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee has just sent a document to the Ministry of Transport regarding the acceptance and completion of the Project to study the possibility of forming Van Phong International Airport in Van Ninh district.
Accordingly, the airport location is studied in Van Thang commune, Van Ninh district, about 65 km from Nha Trang city, about 108 km north of Cam Ranh international airport, about 48 km south of Tuy Hoa airport, Phu Yen province.
The total planned land area is nearly 500 hectares. Of which, the common land area is more than 412 hectares; the civil aviation land area is 74 hectares; the military land area is 10 hectares.
Van Phong International Airport will facilitate development in the north of Khanh Hoa province.
The planned airport area is located entirely on coastal water, without residents, protective forests, mangrove forests, or historical relics, convenient for compensation and site clearance, and does not affect houses and existing structures.
The total investment of Van Phong International Airport is expected to be about VND9,200 billion, serving 1.5 million passengers per year. To ensure that the State capital invested from the budget is reasonable, feasible and effective according to the law on investment under the public-private partnership method, it is necessary to have specific mechanisms and policies for the project.
The local budget investment is about 2,150 billion VND, accounting for more than 23%; the private sector investment is about 7,064 billion VND, accounting for more than 76%.

After the Prime Minister reviews and supplements the planning according to regulations, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province will call for strategic investors to participate in researching and investing in the construction of the Van Phong International Airport project under the PPP method, ensuring the State capital invested from the State budget in accordance with the provisions of law.
