TPO - As the most magnificent cave in the Western region of Nghe An, Bua Cave not only has archaeological value but also becomes an interesting destination for domestic and foreign tourists.
Bua Cave in Thai is called Bua Deep, formed on the Pha En limestone mountain range in Na Nhang village, Chau Tien commune, Quy Chau district, 170 km northwest of Vinh city. |
Over millions of years of natural geological formation, Bua Cave has created an extremely majestic and mysterious beauty. Bua Cave is associated with the folk legends of the Thai people, including the love story of Khun Tinh, a heroic character in the epic of the indigenous Thai people. |
The cave is quite large, with many stalagmites, stone pillars, and stalactites creating vivid shapes. The rocks in the cave are naturally carved into abstract shapes such as terraced fields, gongs, princess beds, etc., or tools associated with the ancient lives of the Thai people such as knives, crossbows, and sickles. |
At Bua cave, archaeologists have found fossils of many ancient animals. Also here, people have found traces of ancient Vietnamese people through production tools such as stone axes from the Neolithic period. |
Not only a beautiful landscape, Bua Cave also has archaeological value. In 2015, according to the program "Research on the system of archaeological caves in mountainous Nghe An province" of the Institute of Archaeology, scientists collected relics of the late Paleolithic period (about 40,000 - 15,000 years ago) with rudimentary chiseling techniques, lying with fossils of many animal species in solid yellow sediments. |
The stalactites have many rich, diverse and extremely interesting shapes. |
With its beautiful, poetic, lyrical scenery and unique cultural features, Bua Cave was ranked as a "National historical relic and scenic spot" by the Ministry of Culture and Information (now the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in 1997. |
The Bua Cave Festival is held from January 20 to 22 (lunar calendar), attracting tens of thousands of people and tourists from all over. This is a traditional festival of the ethnic groups in Quy Chau district in particular and the Northwest region of Nghe An in general, to commemorate the merits of those who founded the village. |
The ceremony is held at Chieng Ngam Temple and the festival is held at Hang Bua. In addition to the dress rental competition and culinary culture, many traditional sports are organized during the festival such as stick pushing, shuttlecock throwing, volleyball... |
To attract locals and tourists from all over the country, local authorities pay special attention to creating landscapes and planting flowers in front of Bua cave area, creating a check-in point. |
