At around 4:00 p.m. on March 31, while fishing near Thuyen Chai Island, a fisherman working on a boat was hit in the head by a basket, causing him to briefly lose consciousness, have a headache, feel dizzy, and bleed profusely from the top of his head.

The victim was Mr. Pham Anh, 53 years old, Binh Duong commune, Binh Son district, Quang Ngai province, a fisherman on fishing boat QNg 95255 TS of Quang Ngai province.

Receiving instructions from above on first aid for fishermen in distress; Truong Sa Island Infirmary proactively contacted fishing boats to grasp the situation and provide first aid instructions.

The medical team performed skull X-rays, emergency hematology and biochemistry tests, treated the wound on the top of the head, immobilized in bed, pain relief, swelling reduction, anti-inflammation, antibiotics, vitamins, and brain cell protection.

The patient is at risk of head wound infection and progressive brain damage.

Currently, Truong Sa Island Infirmary continues to treat with pain relief, swelling reduction, anti-inflammation, antibiotics, vitamins, brain cell protection, and bed rest; at the same time, closely monitor any abnormal signs for treatment direction.
