Opening of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival

VHO – On the evening of December 14, in Dong Ha City, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism coordinated with the People's Committee of Quang Tri province to organize the opening ceremony of the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival.

Attending the program were Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy; Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly's Ethnic Council Dinh Thi Phuong Lan; leaders of Quang Tri province, representatives of leaders of provinces, departments and offices of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; many artisans and actors of 16 troupes participating in the Festival and people and tourists in Quang Tri.

In her opening speech, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, Head of the Steering Committee for the 2024 Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival, emphasized: Preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic groups is both a goal and a central, long-term task identified by our Party and State in all periods, especially in the context of innovation, integration, globalization and the strong scientific and technological revolution taking place as it is today.

Deputy Minister Trinh Thi Thuy and Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Hoang Nam presented flowers and souvenir flags to units participating in the Festival.

In recent times, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has proactively and actively coordinated with ministries, branches and localities to implement many activities and programs to preserve and promote the cultural values ​​of ethnic groups. Organizing the Festival of Vietnamese Ethnic Cultures in Quang Tri Province   is a concrete demonstration in the implementation of the viewpoints, tasks and Resolutions set forth by the Party.

The Vietnam Ethnic Culture Festival is not only a cultural event, but more importantly, it is also an opportunity for cultural subjects, artisans, actors, and mass athletes of all ethnic groups to participate in exchanges, share experiences, and introduce the beauty of their own culture. Thereby, spreading the pride and sense of responsibility of each person and each community in preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities in the period of national integration and development.

From there, cultural achievements built over many generations are continued, nurtured, and increasingly deepened and enriched. Demonstrating the spirit of great solidarity and the aspiration to rise of all ethnic groups; creating a premise and a solid foundation for the people of all ethnic groups to work harder together with the whole country in the new era - the era of rising of the Vietnamese people.

Mr. Hoang Nam, Vice Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said: Quang Tri is a convergence of ethnic groups: Kinh, Bru-Van Kieu and Ta Oi (Pa Co) and some other ethnic minorities, accounting for about 14% of the province's population. In the process of development, ethnic minorities in Quang Tri have formed cultural identities that are both unique and common to the Vietnamese ethnic community.

Over the years, Quang Tri province has always prioritized investment resources to support ethnic minority areas; focused on promoting the implementation of the National Target Program on socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas of Quang Tri province for the period 2021 - 2030. This includes the work of preserving and promoting the fine traditional cultural values ​​of ethnic minorities associated with tourism development, contributing to attracting tourists to Quang Tri.

“The festival is also an opportunity for Quang Tri province to promote and introduce cultural tourism products of the homeland and Quang Tri people to friends and domestic and foreign tourists, linking the work of preserving, conserving and promoting the value of cultural heritage with sustainable tourism development,” Mr. Hoang Nam emphasized.

With the theme " Preserving and promoting the cultural identity of Vietnamese ethnic groups: Equality, solidarity, respect, integration and development for a peaceful world ", the 2024 Vietnamese Ethnic Culture Festival will feature many unique activities, with the participants being artisans, actors, and athletes from ethnic groups from 16 provinces and cities: Bac Giang, Da Nang, Dak Lak, Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Lang Son, Nghe An, Quang Binh, Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Son La, Thanh Hoa, Thua Thien Hue, Vinh Phuc and Quang Tri.

The main cultural and tourism activities take place at the Quang Tri Provincial Cinema and Cultural Center (No. 1A Hung Vuong, Dong Ha City), including: Mass art festival; Performance of traditional costumes of ethnic groups; Performance and introduction of festival excerpts, cultural rituals; Display, introduction and promotion of traditional culture of localities...

Sports activities are held at the Quang Tri Province Multi-purpose Gymnasium (Truong Chinh Street, Dong Ha City) with traditional national sports: tug of war, stick pushing, crossbow shooting, slingshot shooting... The events will take place until December 16, 2024.
