Incheon City Tourism Promotion Agency (Korea) has just had a series of activities to introduce tourism in Vietnam as well as connect trade and cooperate with tourism businesses.
In Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Baig Hyeon - Director of Incheon Tourism Promotion Agency - said that the city is aiming to not only be a gateway for tourists between Korea and the world, but also a place where tourists can experience cuisine, culture, and convenient accommodation.
Currently, 70% of international visitors to Korea come through Incheon Airport. This is the largest airport in the land of kimchi and also one of the busiest airports in the world.
Recently, with the advantage of appearing in many scenes of many Korean movies and dramas, and being the place to hold Korea's representative K-pop concert, INK Concert... or organizing many international music festivals, Incheon city has attracted many young tourists from Vietnam to come here to watch the shows.
"This demand is very high and motivates us to carry out projects to improve accommodation infrastructure and develop tourism, aiming to turn Incheon into a global tourism center and leading tourist city, especially MICE (incentive tourism) and medical and beauty tourism products," Mr. Baig Hyeon added.

At the same time, the Korean side emphasized that it will strengthen cooperation with travel businesses, creating products and tours more suitable for Vietnamese tourists.
Currently, most flights between Vietnam and Korea go through Incheon Airport, many destinations in Vietnam connect to Incheon Airport such as Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Phu Quoc, Cam Ranh, Da Lat, Hai Phong. The frequency of these flights is increasing, operated by many Vietnamese and Korean airlines.
Mr. Nguyen Van Nam - General Director of Koji Travel - said that in the past two years, this destination has been focusing on the Vietnamese market by promoting many attractive destinations such as: Songdo International City, Open Port Area, DMZ Peace Tour (exploring the demilitarized zone between South Korea and North Korea)...
In 2024, Korea expects to welcome about 550,000 Vietnamese visitors, equivalent to 2019 before the pandemic. And with this number, Vietnam is the largest international market in Southeast Asia and is in the top 5 in the world for Korean tourism.
Vietnam is the second favorite destination of Korean tourists.
According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, in the first 10 months of 2024, about 3.7 million Korean tourists visited Vietnam, an increase of 28% over the same period last year. Accordingly, Korea has become the largest source of international visitors to Vietnam, accounting for more than 26% of total international arrivals after 10 months. After Japan, Vietnam is the destination chosen by many Korean tourists when traveling abroad.
On the other hand, South Korea is also a favorite destination for Vietnamese tourists, with over 435,000 arrivals as of mid-October 2024, making Vietnam the leading source market in Southeast Asia for South Korean tourism. In 2023, Vietnam will be the fifth largest source of visitors to South Korea globally, with about 420,000 arrivals.
