Specifically, at the 2023 Technology and Equipment Fair (Techmart 2023), ITS Company introduced multi-function dryer products, applying solar energy technology to dry agricultural products in Vietnam. Immediately after that, the company received cooperation in transferring product technology from many units and enterprises, such as the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances in Can Tho City, the Center for Application of Science and Technology Advances in Ninh Thuan Province, etc.
At the same time, ITS Company has also completed the equipment to filter seawater or saline water into fresh water using solar energy, and hopes to continue to transfer technology widely. "It can be affirmed that the technology exchange has made an important contribution to the commercialization of our company's research products," said Mr. Phan Van Hiep. Meanwhile, Ms. Dinh Thi Hong Suong, Director of D&H Retek USA Company, said that taking advantage of abundant raw materials in Vietnam, even agricultural by-products and waste, the company has researched and developed biological products to serve life. In the early days, the company encountered difficulties in transferring technology and commercializing research products to the market. Through the technology exchange of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, the company has connected with domestic and international units and expert networks to transfer research projects and apply them to the production process.
“Up to now, many young people and entrepreneurs across the country have contacted us to learn about essential oil extraction technology, the process of commercializing research products to the market, and methods for successful startups... Up to now, there have been 6 startups that have successfully commercialized products from D&H Retek USA's research," said Ms. Dinh Thi Hong Suong. According to the technology exchange's report, in 2023, the unit supported the promotion and introduction of products to nearly 400 suppliers, including institutes, schools, and businesses, with more than 8,000 customers. The exchange's Techport portal also updated and supplemented 1,300 technology devices from more than 115 suppliers, hundreds of projects looking for partners... to serve businesses when they need to innovate technology.
Affirming the role of connection
Assessing the activities of buying, selling and transferring technology, the representative of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City stated that compared to practical needs, the science and technology market is in a state of scarcity of goods supply, technology buying and selling activities are mainly in the form of contracts for purchasing machinery and equipment. In fact, many small and medium enterprises are still hesitant and have not dared to invest in technology in the current difficult economic situation. However, the activities of the technology exchange have gradually created a three-party cooperation mechanism, gaining the trust of businesses and research organizations.
According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan, Director of the Center for Science and Technology Information and Statistics of Ho Chi Minh City, to operate the technology exchange effectively, the center has built an IT infrastructure, including a database system, domestic and foreign technology supply sources; a network of partners contributing to promoting supply-demand connections with business associations, institutes - schools, research centers, experts... In addition, the center focuses on building a consulting process, connecting technology transfer and an online transaction system management process to promote technology transfer. To catch up with the wave of technology dissemination on social networking platforms, the center also organizes effective activities such as introducing technology on YouTube, livestreaming product introductions...
“The center identifies the biggest goal of the technology exchange as connecting supply and demand, creating opportunities to implement transactions of science and technology products and services. With practical experience and professional processes, over the years, the center has effectively implemented the connection; at the same time, providing in-depth support on legal issues, policies and contract negotiation processes for businesses when transferring and buying and selling technology…”, Mr. Nguyen Duc Tuan informed.
Mr. Le Thanh Minh, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City, commented that the Center for Science and Technology Information and Statistics of Ho Chi Minh City has promoted and linked research and development activities with innovation and start-up activities; actively supported science and technology activities and innovation of universities and private sectors; promoted the community of science and technology organizations to participate in implementing the city's science and technology tasks. In order for the technology exchange to achieve more results in its operations, the center needs to continue to perform its functions and tasks well; at the same time, determine the goal of making science and technology a driving force for socio-economic development, contributing to improving the competitiveness of products and goods; research to improve service quality; develop the center's services on an online platform, meeting the increasing demands of the market.
