Nvidia’s competitors seem to be feeling the pinch of the company’s recent success, including Intel, which has been intent on unseating Nvidia from the start. A few months ago, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger said the entire industry was uniting to counter Nvidia’s market dominance through the CUDA ecosystem. At the time, Gelsinger noted that Nvidia’s current reputation was just a “moat” and that the company would be inconsistent going forward.

Now, Intel's senior vice president of data center and AI group Justin Hotard claims the company envisions creating an "open ecosystem" that would allow them to support the entire AI market and hopefully eliminate the industry monopoly that Nvidia currently enjoys.
"AI is the biggest change since the internet," Justin said in a statement at the first-ever Intel AI Seoul Summit 2024 in South Korea. "Intel's strategy involves building an open ecosystem for everything from PCs to data centers. This allows other companies to use Intel Foundry for semiconductor fabrication, allowing Intel to support the entire AI market."
Justin also reiterated the company’s commitment to building strong relationships with Korean companies like Samsung Electronics and SK hynix, asserting that they will play a major role in the future of the AI market. The company is optimistic about the future of the AI market, saying that the technology will shape the vision of every other company to ensure that they pay due attention to AI.
This seems to suggest that Intel may see Korean companies as a business opportunity as rival Nvidia focuses on Taiwan. This is not because companies are biased toward the region, but because Intel has traditionally preferred to work with Korean companies like SK hynix, which supplies HBM memory for the company's Gaudi accelerators.
