10,000 doses of rabies vaccine will be distributed to localities, providing free vaccinations to the poor, people in remote areas, and children under 6 years old in Vietnam.
Speaking at the ceremony to donate rabies vaccines for disease prevention in Vietnam recently held in Hanoi, pharmacist Nguyen Binh Minh, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director of AMV Healthcare Group, said that rabies is a common disease among people in mountainous, remote, rural areas and disadvantaged people. In addition, rabies prevention has faced many difficulties over the years.

Rabies is a dangerous disease, and death is certain when it occurs, but there is a vaccine to prevent it. However, in Vietnam, the price of rabies vaccine is still a large sum of money for many poor people and people living in remote areas. All deaths were people who had not been vaccinated against rabies after being bitten by dogs or cats.
Therefore, the most important thing is to propagate so that people can proactively access rabies vaccines and get vaccinated as soon as possible after being bitten by a dog or cat.
Recently, according to Mr. Nguyen Binh Minh, the Group has tried to coordinate with partners to provide free rabies vaccines to the poor and has built a rabies vaccine map to reduce the pain of people when bitten by rabid dogs.
The head of AMV Medical Group highly appreciated the beautiful gesture of IIL- Indian Immunological Ltd Indian Immunological Ltd and hoped that the above number of vaccines would save many lives.
The National Rabies Prevention Program Office is the focal point for receiving the above vaccines and synthesizing the registration of the number of rabies vaccines sent from localities in need.
These vaccines will be distributed to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in mountainous areas where there are high numbers of deaths from rabies and a shortage of rabies vaccines to provide free vaccinations to program beneficiaries.
Also at the event, according to Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong, Head of the National Rabies Prevention Program Office, Central Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology, as of July 15, 2024, there were 56 deaths from rabies nationwide, an increase of 50% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to Dr. Huong, in the past 3 years, the number of people who have had accidents due to animal bites in Vietnam has increased continuously, up to 30-40%. In 2023, 82 people died from rabies nationwide, nearly 700,000 people had to be vaccinated with rabies vaccine and serum after being bitten by dogs and cats. The risk of rabies in Vietnam is real and very high.
The number of people bitten by animals is increasing rapidly, while vaccine manufacturers cannot keep up with the supply. In the past, there was a short-term vaccine shortage, causing great risks for vulnerable groups. If there is a shortage of rabies vaccine, it will affect health security and social security.
"Therefore, the assistance of Duc Minh Medical Joint Stock Company, AMV Medical Group in coordination with Indian Immunological Ltd (India) to donate 10,000 doses of rabies vaccine to Vietnam is extremely timely and meaningful," said Dr. Huong.
