Custo in the mid-size MPV segment, Palisade in the E-segment SUV group is expected to be available on the market in September.
According to Hyundai dealers, the Korean car company's product line in Vietnam will have two new models appearing for the first time, Custo and Palisade, belonging to two segments that the company is lacking and is expected to be sold in September.
Hyundai Custo is a joint venture product of Hyundai and BAIC Group (China) in the world's most populous market. The MPV model from Hyundai has a 7-seat configuration (2+2+3) with sliding doors in the rear seats - a familiar design on mid-sized and large MPV lines.
Custo shares the same chassis platform with Hyundai Tucson or Kia Carnival . The car has dimensions of length x width x height of 4,950 x 1,850 x 1,734 mm, wheelbase of 3,055 mm. These parameters are superior to small MPVs such as Mitsubishi Xpander , Suzuki Ertiga ... and smaller than Kia Carnival. Kia's model has similar parameters of 5,155 x 1,995 x 1,775 mm and 3,090 m.
In terms of size, Hyundai Custo in the mid-range MPV segment currently only has Toyota Innova . The new generation Innova will also be available on the market around October, sold by import for automatic versions (new model) and domestically assembled for manual versions (old model).
Hyundai Custo in China is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine, 167 horsepower, maximum torque of 253 Nm. 8-speed automatic transmission, front-wheel drive.
The second new model of Hyundai about to go on sale is Palisade. This is an E-size SUV with a monocoque chassis that competes with rivals already present in Vietnam such as Ford Explorer priced at VND2.399 billion, Volkswagen Teramont priced at VND2.499 billion, both imported from the US.
In the US, the Palisade has two engine options, including a 2.2-liter I4 diesel engine with 197 horsepower and a 3.8-liter V6 gasoline engine with 291 horsepower. The car's transmission is an 8-speed automatic, with full-time 4-wheel drive.
Currently, information about the configuration, equipment and specific selling price of the Hyundai Custo and Palisade lines is being kept confidential. It is not clear whether these two models are assembled or imported. Thanh Cong's orientation is to assemble domestically, however, some models may be imported in the initial stage of sale and then assembled. The most recent example is the B-size CUV, Hyundai Creta .
