On April 2, Huynh Nhu traveled from Portugal to Nepal to join the Vietnamese women's team there.
Previously, the striker born in 1991 was released by Lank FC to play for the national team. Huynh Nhu will play 2 matches and then must return to the club immediately to continue playing in the Portuguese national championship.
Meanwhile, yesterday afternoon (April 2), the Vietnamese women's team also moved to Nepal.
Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team's flight departed from Noi Bai airport at 7:05 p.m., transited at Indira Gandhi (India) before arriving in Kathmandu (Nepal) at 4:00 p.m. on April 3.
Sharing before departure, midfielder Bich Thuy said: "I am very excited, want to move quickly to the competition venue and complete the final preparations for the tournament."
"In this tournament, the team is trying to improve their physical strength, playing mindset, and finishing. These are stepping stones for us to develop and strive towards a place to compete at the upcoming 32nd SEA Games," Bich Thuy added.
On this trip, coach Mai Duc Chung selected the most suitable players. Meanwhile, 10 players whose names were not included continued to train at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center with fitness coach Cedric Roger.
In addition, coach Mai Duc Chung also called up 4 more young players to the training camp including: Tran Nhat Lan, Ho Thi Thanh Thao, Tran Thi Thuy Nga and Ngoc Minh Chuyen.
In the first qualifying round of the 2024 Olympics, Group C only has Vietnam and Nepal left because the two opponents Afghanistan and Palestine withdrew respectively.
Because there are still 2 teams, the Organizing Committee decided to change the new format in this group to a two-legged match between Vietnam and Nepal on April 5 and April 8 in Kathmandu city (Nepal).
The winning team will advance to the second qualifying round. In case the two teams have the same points and index, they will play 2 more extra rounds or penalty shootouts.
The first round of the 2024 Paris Olympics Asian qualifiers has seven groups. The top seven teams from each group will compete with the women's teams of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, China and South Korea in the second round.
