This is the opening competition event of the new season and an important occasion for localities to review their forces and select athletes for international targets, especially the 8th World Vovinam Championship taking place at the end of this year in Bali (Indonesia).
This year, the tournament gathered nearly 440 athletes and coaches from 30 units nationwide, competing in 48 sets of medals in two categories: combat and performance. Of which, combat included 26 sets of medals with 14 weight categories for men and 12 weight categories for women.
In the martial arts event, athletes competed in 22 events such as single-handed, weapon, dual, multi-practice and team. There were a total of 224 matches and 119 performances.
The 2025 National Vovinam Strong Team Championship will take place in mid-April.
According to experts, the tournament promises many dramatic competitions as athletes are determined to win a place at the world tournament. This is also an important preparation step towards the 2026 National Sports Festival in Ho Chi Minh City.
Notably, many localities have boldly promoted young athletes aged 18-20 to compete in this top-level playground. Despite their young age, these athletes have experience competing in national youth and student tournaments, showing clear progress in both expertise and competitive spirit.
Many young faces were promoted to compete by the units, showing clear progress in expertise and competitive spirit.
In this tournament, Ho Chi Minh City is the defending champion of last season with 14 gold medals. They will face great pressure from strong teams such as Can Tho, Thanh Hoa, Quan Doi, Ha Noi… in the race to defend the throne.
Not only is it a place for excellent martial artists to compete, the tournament is also an opportunity to evaluate the quality of training in localities, while contributing to spreading the spirit of sports and national martial arts identity in the community.
